Smallville Season 10 Episode 5: ISIS

I want a fan edit of this series!

Can you imagine? All your fave moments with none of the stuff you hate?! A version of Smallville edited to your personal fan preference! Yum!

The character “Isis” would not be in my fan edit of this episode. LOL!

What a mess Isis was!

I liked everything BUT the A plot of this episode. LOL!

THE SECRET(S) aka Lois Knows and Clark Knows She Knows!!!

The opening scene with Lois was really cute. I was so glad that she was ready to get Clark’s secret out! Or, alternatively, she was ready to tell Clark that she knew. I enjoyed Clark opening up to Oliver about his worries regarding his secret. I thought Oliver was a little too cheery during the conversation, but… it was nice to see them friendly with each other. I loved Clark telling Lois on the roof, even though it seemed kind of rushed. I hated that Lois wasn’t Lois when Clark finally got there. I loved the way Clark revealed his secret at the end. Clark really spoke from the heart, and Lois jumping him was so insane. It was so much fun. That was probably my favorite scene of the episode.

Lois Lane and Cat Grant
I’ve been looking forward to Lois and Cat meeting and hating each other since Shield. But the meeting was very disappointing. It was as though they’d already met in offscreenville several times and their hatred had reached a breaking point. I wanted more banter, more sizing each other up before the outright hostility. The Clois awkwardness was very hit and miss during the Lois/Cat scene and it seriously wasn’t long enough! I got really excited when Cat reached for the folder and Lois jerked it away! I was thinking, “Yes please fight over a story!” But no, they missed that golden opportunity for Lois/Cat fun. I'm not sure why, but I got such a thrill out of Clark saying, "Roof in five" to Lois. Maybe  it was the close up of Clark's huge hand.

Rewrite!
Hey, how about, Lois and Cat are fighting over the scoop on Isis. Somehow Cat schemes her way into the event. We get so SEE (which I was really looking forward to) Oliver grapple hook his way in and we get to SEE the Green Arrow girls do their thing. Oliver’s assistant (who looks a lot like Carter Hall’s true love) is blissful about the goings on and during the big climax; the necklace of Isis possesses Lois. Just think! We could have seen both Lois and Cat dressed up for the event. More, more, more Lois/Cat.

As great as Clois is (Clark told Lois the TRUTH!!!) and as wonderful as Cassidy was, Cat Grant saved the episode for me. She made the Isis stuff watchable. The way her little eyes peeped over the crates when she was snooping around in the warehouse. LOL! She's so much fun.

Tess Mercer
Actually showing Oliver’s shindig would also give Tess more motivation to confront Oliver about losing himself in the hero hype and being a shadow of the hero he once was. I honestly didn’t get what she was talking about or why she was all up in Oliver’s business during the episode because nothing Tess complained about had happened onscreen. Ever since the end of season 9, Tess has been the official Chlollie pimper. I got it at first because they have to sell offscreenville Chlollie somehow, but now it just seems old and forced. I don’t mind keeping Chloe’s presence alive through Oliver but WRITE BETTER. And please no more Chlollie pimping from Tess. Very wrong. Bleh.

Tess laughs. This was my second favorite moment of the episode. The scene between Tess and Cat reminded me of the scene between Lex and Jimmy in Fallout, Season 6. LOL! I liked the little exchange that Tess and Cat had about little Lex. So wonderful! <3

I was kind of hoping that Tess would turn down the job at Watchtower. I just… I enjoy the new dynamic that working with Oliver and Clark brings to Watchtower, but I just … I hope Tess isn’t just at their beck and call. We’ll see what happens. I’m glad that Oliver and Clark are taking a chance on her. I think this is an important distinction between the good guys and the bad guys. Good guys believe in reformation and redemption.

I loved the scene between Tess and little Lex. I’m glad Tess chose to give in to her maternal instincts. Again, that’s what being a good person is about: giving love and having faith in people, even evil clones. LOL! Little Lex is so cute. I adore Peter Pan. It's one of my very favorite stories.

ISIS
Isis was such a weak character that I had a hard time following her motives and objectives. I don’t know who is more to blame; writers, directors, or actress; but I hated her. I didn’t understand and I didn’t care because the Isis stuff was boring and embarrassing to watch. It was just bad. We've had so many possessions on this show, why do one if it's not going to be different from all the others?  Maybe Isis will pan out into future episodes but I really hope not. As it is, she’s completely irrelevant to EVERYTHING that has happened this season - unless Carter Hall mentioned her in Shield. Did he? If Isis’ love isn’t Carter Hall, all this just seems rather random and unrelated to ANYTHING that’s going on. I think it would have helped to have Carter Hall in this episode, and directly connect it to “Shield.” I almost feel like this plot was supposed to be in Shield but was reworked to be in a different episode.

If Isis is Ra's true love and therefore Carter Hall/Hawkman's true love, why was she so devoid of personality? This was the wrong choice. I think she should have been more human, more sympathetic. Then maybe I would CARE what she had to say to Clark about risking it all for love. As it was, whatever lesson Isis was trying to teach Clark didn't work for me. Clark should never put Lois before the world and/or destroy the world to have her. Was Isis supposed to… oh who cares?!

This episode really makes me appreciate vampire Lana, Isobel and Faora SO much more! I never thought I would applaud them for being relevant to the plot! I never thought I would applaud KK for knowing how to SELL IT. I have never been afraid to admit that I am a huge fan of Lana-fu, but after this episode, my love has deepened.

Maybe it’s because of dawnybee ’s montage of Smallville bondage in her most recent post, but I really got into Clark being tied up with the golden ropes. I wonder why Isis insisted on performing magical heart transplant surgery without taking Clark's shirt off.

OLIVER QUEEN and CHLOLLIE
Wish I could have gone to Oliver’s Egyptian party in this episode, but it was nice to see him joking around and being more like his old self again. I hope we have left brooding Oliver behind forever.

Again, I don’t mind Oliver being the voice of Chlollie/all things Chloe but please, write it better, and leave Tess out of it! Oliver thinks Chloe is gone because of his secret?! HUH?!

I'm really not as mad at Chloe or as sick of her as some viewers. I just want them to really write something ... truthful if they are going to have Oliver think of Chloe and talk about her. "No one can replace Chloe." "You're not the man Chloe fell for." Stuff like that just seems so cheap to me! I know it's the kind of stuff that Smallville has always done, world without end Amen, but it grates on me!

Next week Lex clone is growing way too fast. Also maybe there's Clois sex. Hmm...

smallville, season 10
