Clumsy Comments about Frances Ha and Georgie Girl

A movie night months ago my movie watching companion and I watched Georgie Girl. A few movie nights later, or maybe the next movie night, we watched Frances Ha. I will be really surprised if the lady behind Frances Ha was not in some way influenced by Georgie Girl. ( Clumsy rambling below without apology! )

One thing that I noticed about Georgie Girl was at the very beginning when she is walking down a London Street looking in all the windows, she decides to do something about changing herself and goes into a Beauty Salon to get her hair done in the latest Pile-It-High look. She does want to try on something other than her usual self and see what she thinks and feels about it. Of course, she hates it and runs into a train station bathroom and washes it all out, but she does have a spirit and sense of adventure and change. She is willing to try the "New Ways". But our Georgie is a Mom and Homemaker at Heart, at least at this stage of her life. She goes for the roommate's child and the Rich Old Creep to support her and the baby. Maybe later in life, Georgie will become someone or something different, but there is no harm in wanting to be a Mother and the best Mother you can be and provide the best living for your child ( ... )
