Well I tend to be more egnostic and quite anti religion since it has probably killed more people than any other thing even though they preach "peace"...
RELIGION hasn't killed people... people have. For instance, Muslim terrorists aren't killing people because their God told them too, they're killing because THEY think their God told them too. For the same reason, the Crusades were un-Christian... I could go on.
well, why are people killing others for a religion...? Even mistakenly so, they still have sources in their holy books that tell them it is ok. Without organised religion (well mainly anti tolerant religion) there would be many less problems in the world than there are today
I don't want to get into a philosophical/ religious discussion here (actually, I kinda do... I'm in the mood, you know?), but I believe that, like most things in life, religion can be both good and bad. It's like one of those magical weapons you read about in books and stuff- it can be used for good or it can be used for evil. I know a lot of religious people who find their spirituality to be a source of joy (usually in an otherwise mostly boring life). Then there are also the terrorists & the fanatics... the bad side of religion. Basically, I believe that to condemn religion itself is a mistake; instead, the real source of blame lies on the unstable mind of humanity. And, you know... if you get right down to it, you've eventually got a world like Brave New World... and no one wants that. Well, except the druggies. :-D
