I said yes and CC-free, please. I don't use much furniture-type CC except stuff from the Store and a couple of Holy Simoly couches and tables so having zero or very little CC (other than Store stuff or maybe a nice couch or table/chair) is a real bonus for me. Patterns are OK, though. Always nice to have some pretty patterns

Ah, very good to know re: compatibility! I'm currently running fully patched basegame so I don't think there will be any compatibility issues no matter what people have installed. In the future I expect to be running all EPs and SPs though

Yes please! I don't like building from scratch on TS3, I prefer to mess with Maxis and downloaded houses. :) I voted multiple bedrooms, CC-free, and base game only. I never really use single bedroom houses, I always end up expanding them to fit a nursery in, and I keep my game purposefully low on CC and base game only (fully patched) so that it runs at a speed which is still fun to play. (I did try WA... it made it so slow I uninstalled it after one play. Darn you, laptop.) Ditto what engram_au said though, I do have some content that needed EPs, I just had to go round replacing furniture before I used it.
I know this is really late to the party and everything, but I am always always ALWAYS looking for starter homes. Even homes that are 30,000 and under. What engram said about layout is very very true, also what I find important, are cribs and single beds. I tend to like to use starter homes, not just for sims I'm playing, but to plunk spares into. I like a cheap house so that I don't use up all my family's funds, but I like a house that my spare and his/her family can grow into. I have one spare right now who is living in a one bedroom house with his wife and three daughters and it always depresses me a little when I visit him.
