So I was tutoring a pair of people, for part of 1st year Philosophy.
They wanted me to help them go over:
Mill and Bentham regarding Utilitarianism
Kant and his Deontology
Rawl's and his Theory of Justice
Nozick Entitlement
Nagel on Moral Luck
Hume vs Gauthier (which I don't know)
Hume on Freedom and Necessity
Sarte on his early Existentialist ideas
So I ask if they can explain any of this to begin with, just to see how much I need to fill in.
They say "Utilitarianism has something to do with happiness, right?"
And that's all they have.
Their final is on Tuesday.
That's fucking ridiculous. (which is to say that they are completely fucked)
