A person I respect a lot, and have worked with off and on for a long time, is really sick. They have cancer, and at their age, it’s really dangerous. Today, they were having a really bad day. Highly symptomatic, highly unwell. A lot of bleeding, a lot of tests, a lot of scary numbers. They’re sort of all alone, here, in Alaska. They don’t have

I have my own hatred of cancer from what it did to my grandma. Even with all the medical advancements it's still incredibly scary, and I think it is absolutely beyond words how awesome yo are for being willing to stick with your friend and offer him that much needed support. Not everyone would have the strength to do that.

I also want to add how glad I am that we were able to work through the rough patch in our friendship and reconcile. Life would be very different without you around. <3
