We loved with a love that was more than love. --Edgar Allan Poe

So, Valentine's Day is on Monday. And maybe this is a secret, or maybe it's not, but I'm a HUGE sap, so to gear up to the day where I eat a litre of ice cream and cry along with The Notebook (okay, so I only did this once, I swear!), I thought that I'd share some of my favourite romantic/lovey/mushy quotes from movies and television. (Including one ( Read more... )

When Harry Met Sally! One of my all time favorites. I'd never think to pair them together, but Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal had such great chemistry. Good quote! :D

Oh, I know, right? In fact, if I'd never seen the flick, I would probably never put them together, but yeah, GREAT chemistry. And they just don't make romantic comedies like that anymore, it's kind of a shame, huh?

Love Chasing Amy! And I remember the guy I had a crush on in high school recited this as a monologue during drama class. Made me like him more!

And #8 brings back memories! Esp. that Faith Hill song from the movie "Remember Me This Way." Ha!

I can't say that I blame you. :) I think that Chasing Amy has some of the best "modern" monologues.

That Spike quote is total love, I know! (Both literal and figurative.)

OOH. I haven't seen Frankie and Johnny in YEARS. I should really re-watch it!

I used to be anti-Valentine's (and, well, yeah I disapprove of the rampant consumerism that guilts the general public into feeling pressured to showing grand displays of affection based purely on a date on a calendar, or worse yet, shaming and shunning people who are without a significant other and therefore feel they can't participate in such a "holiday", but I digress), but I love me some sappy movies, so...

I mean, I just CAN'T watch something like this and not melt into a puddle of goo. HUGE, GIANT, SAP. :)

I'm all about the romance! I'm very pro sappy movies and I dare you to find anyone who Swoons and Aw-s and Oh-s while watching them as much as I do, so totally with you on that. I simply refuse to to make the 14th of Feb a big deal about simply that notion because of all your above reasons ;D

Hee. After I hit post, I was all, "Oh, I probably shouldn't have made it sound like Valentine's Day and being all romantic are mutually exclusive." I totally get what you're saying. I'm such a dope sometimes. :)
