Honesty...Really?

Nov 16, 2006 23:48

I've been feeling lately that being my honest self isn't working out. I tend to tell people what I think about them, even if I don't think they'll like my words. I was treated rather wrongly by a couple people in the past couple weeks and I won't go into details. But they were wrong, and they were assholes for doing what they did to me. I think over all it is, although it can be hard for folks to swallow.

The way it is delivered is crucial too. It doesn't have to be hard core and blunt, I know some folks that deliver it that way and it makes it a bigger pill to swallow. It's easier to take "I'm worried about you, I think you might be drinking more than normal" than it is "I think your killing yourself because you are an alcoholic". Aren't both honest if you think the person is drinking too much and you are worried about their health?

If they are good friends you won't have lost them.

Honesty is only the best policy when you are asked.
Other than that, minding your own business is the best policy.

P.S. This isn't directed to you because I don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. And it probably doesn't apply to your situation. Just speaking my mind. (because I was asked :-P)

100% agree with that. Honesty is really just a policy - the best policy is completely subjective and based upon whatever the situation is.

I agree. In most cases, I would say you should give your opinion only if it is solicited.
BUT that does not apply if you have been wronged in some way. Then you should definitely express your feelings. But do it delicately especially if it's me. hehe :o)
The delicate delivery can be challenging when you emotions are involved though.

Good news: Grillbillie lovin is imminent, so we will be cheering your hot little ass up in just a few hours!!
