Torchwood ; Ianto & Tosh ; wine; PG adina_atl July 24 2009, 03:02:17 UTC
In a slightly different universe...

The cog door rolled open at almost noon, letting the dulcet strains of Owen's whinging preceding him through the door. "...not a fucking thing! Wild goose chase, that was." He stopped dead a foot inside the cog door, bringing Gwen up short against his back. "Does anyone know why the Hub is festooned with silver and gold streamers?" he demanded of the world at large.

"That would be because I hung them up," Ianto offered helpfully from the ladder where he was hanging the last of them.

Owen looked like he'd have a headache if he weren't dead and all. "Brilliant. Good to know that aliens haven't invaded the Hub and redecorated," he said sourly. "Of course that leaves the question of why"Because Jack asked me to?" Ianto answered brightly, seeing no reason to make life--or undeath--any easier for him. Besides, that way he didn't have to admit that he didn't know. That morning, when Jack had woken him up to hand him a party-pack of streamers, was the happiest he'd seen Jack since his brother ( ... )

Oh, lovely. Absolutely beautiful, and just what I wanted after season two. Alas...

Also? He could fake an alarm, lock down the Hub, even let a weevil loose. Anything to distract attention from her if that was what she wanted. Needed. YES. OH, YEAH. Because Ianto so would. Thank you.

Hey, if I'm going to deny, I'm going to DENY. *grin*

And of course Ianto would fake an emergency--or create a real one--for Tosh. (I'm a sucker for Ianto and Tosh.)

Me too. Actually, any Ianto gen pretty much makes me grin. I'm working on Ianto+Martha gen, and I'm starting to fantasize about Ianto+Rhys gen. :D

Torchwood; title; Jack/Ianto; G/spoilers for Children of Earth, Day Four thecrackerfaery July 24 2009, 03:54:01 UTC
My prompt was smile, and so here it is.

He stood at the highest peak, on a craggy cliff overlooking a restless sea. He'd have been on a rooftop if there'd been one available. He'd once had it on the highest authority that he was good on roofs. But this spot he'd chosen was miles from any kind of civilization. He'd slipped away from his duties, from his people, something he rarely did these days because he hated walking the streets of his city and feeling alone ( ... )

Aw. This is utterly beautiful, this is. I can just see the whole scene you're describing.
It's not super happy, but it's very Jack and I love it. The whole idea of it makes me smile even if I rather hate the event that caused it.
Wonderfully, brilliantly done.

Thank you so much. You're right that it's not super happy; for me, it was intended to assure myself that their love wasn't for nothing, and that Jack would take something from Ianto that he'd keep always. Not just the stopwatch, I guess, but the memory of it all. And it doesn't make what happened better, really, but it hurts a little less. :)

M*A*S*H; Fishing; Henry, Radar; PG/no spoilers (1/3) eponymous_rose July 24 2009, 04:41:47 UTC
The sun, struggling to rise somewhere beyond the craggy mountains, had only managed to put a dull gleam on a landscape that looked more forgiving in the dark. Morning in Korea, Henry figured, was a lot like any other time in Korea: dusty, dirty, gray, and about six thousand miles from home ( ... )

The road was a disaster, as usual, but it seemed like it was a little smoother than it had been the last time; whatever haze had settled over Henry’s eyes was beginning to lift, along with his spirits. That was the thing - so many people put all their time and energy into getting out of the war altogether, but just a little touch of normalcy here and there really made all the difference. For the rest of the trip, Henry distracted himself from Radar’s unease by imagining Frank Burns’s reaction to the order that all front-line units be equipped with a fishing hole ( ... )

The second shot was a bit farther away, and Henry took that opportunity to grab Radar by the collar and drag him away from the jeep. “Holy cow,” Radar said, with feeling. “Holy cow ( ... )

Oh my god, yay! I hadn't expected anyone to pick up one of my M*A*S*H prompts, and I'm overjoyed that you did, and that it was so good, too. The character voices are absolutely spot-on and I loved how the plot all came together, too. This has most definitely brought the happy. Thank you.
