Then to walk away defeated,

I'll say it tonight, I'll say it forever,
"Maybe just this once"
And this time I really swear I mean it,

Oh I need you now,

You're so fast asleep,
"You look so beautiful as you sleep in peace"
This room is safe and sound,
"Only us to distract each other"
You lay here with me,
"Your hair, your life, lying across my lap"
And feel it,
"How can you not feel my feelings for you?"

I think it's good,
"I suppose it couldn’t be worse"
It's something I can't get my head around,

I heard a pin drop and a nervous heartbeat,
