I've been crying more frequently of late. This afternoon it was a couple of Billy Bragg songs that got me there. They were political songs, and so there were elements both of tenderness for the sufferings of others, and of sadness at what the world has lost. You'd think this last would inspire some bitterness, but it didn't. I appear to be going

You're on my mind a fair bit lately. Your spirit (correction: my interpretation and perhaps romanticization of your spirit) is woven in fragments through several characters in my novel.

I thought I might'ev seen some of myself in stjohn, but then convinced myself I was making it up. I agree that we should find time to see each other. Do you have any plans to come East, or should I try to find time to get across the border?
