- The Penguins offered a contract to Kovalev...they didn't say what it was, but from the way the Post-Gazette was talking about it, it's probably a long one.

- Jagr is trying to pass his high school exams.

Definitely optimistic. This is exactly what the team needs...we're going to have a good season, I think. Check out the Pens' new website too...it's got a great look. You'll need a reasonably quick connection, but it's worth it.

Third funny anecdote: The P-G also said it was glad Straka didn't model the new home jersey yesterday at the press conference - they were certain he'd probably break his shoulder blade trying to put it on.
