Thursday, May 22, 2003 - Day 3

May 31, 2003 16:04

Today was a quieter day in terms of activities, but just as cool.

Dwight and I spent the day preparing for the trip - we finalized our itinerary, collected our supplies, thoroughly washed the car, and generally bummed around Portland. We played some frisbee on Waterfront Park, strolled around downtown (including a marvelous public fountain you can walk or play in, by the Keller Auditorium), picked Max up from school again (but not before chilling with his friends for a bit again, and getting a parking ticket from the ultra-anal Portland parking police).

Had lunch at this great burger/ice cream/milkshake joint called Tillamook. I had a delicious halibut fish and chips.

It seems like every time I visit the Pacific Northwest I feel more at home here. When I get out of school I'm definitely going to give some serious thought to living up here, I think. Portland is a beautiful city, as is Vancouver, BC - I love this region in general...

For now, though, it's time to get ready for the drive. The car's gassed up, the bags are packed, the route is set. We're ready. Dwight and I both hope that the next eight days will be one of the coolest experiences of our lives.
