About the Dynamite Tommy fiasco

So, about that. It’s a big deal. Mostly it’s a big deal for Dir en grey, since DT reported the money that he stole as being intended to be used to promote them (videos, costumes etc). From a PR point of view, this is not good, even if it turns out that the band had no idea what was going on. They will be questioned by the police. They may have to ( Read more... )

You articulated my thoughts perfectly. I agree. I'm still kind of O.O over it, actually. It hasn't sunken in yet. Guh....

I'm still puzzled as to why most of the fans here don't seem to realise what a huge deal this is. Not only are the legal aspects problematic, what about what it does to their reputation?
Normally people are all over the slightest little "OMG Die smiled at a girl!" wank, why is everyone ignoring this?

Because this actually matters? It's beyond their comprehension maybe. Ha.

I'm kind of worried about the reputation aspect. I have a feeling this whole situation may get very, very stupid.

I'm wondering if maybe it's because people don't quite understand the importance of reputation over there. Here we expect people in the music industry to be disreputable, over there not so much.

And yeah, I have a horrible feeling things are going to get worse. I hope not.

Hey thank you for this post! Due to beeing busy with my final exams I'm not very up to date with all these things..
But reading this was very shocking and I'm confused nobody else wrote anything in the lj communities! I mean I havn't heard much about what exactly happened and how far Dir en grey are involved.. but this sound very bad.. and it sure IS a big deal..
I allready wondered why they are going to release those best of cds.. but hearing that their label has some serious problems..
Do you have any more informations about this DT fiasco? because I can't find anything..

If you look on the main dir_en_grey LJ and scroll down they had a few posts about this. Also, phantasmagoria had some translations on her LJ. I didn't save the links, but I'll see what I can find.

I don't think there's been any new information in a while BUT record sales and touring are proceeding as normal. I don't think they'd be allowed to leave the country if the prosecutor thought they were really involved in any of the financial shenanigans, so that's probably a good sign.
