It seems that yesterday was International Anita Brookner Day. This site's author has compiled several reviews of her books from various bloggers, so it's an interesting tribute if you like her work. Has anyone here read her books? What did you think?

I've read several of her books: Hotel du Lac, Family and Friends, Providence (I think), and later on also A Friend from England and Incidents in the Rue Laugier.

Apart from A Friend from England, which I didn't finish because I found it extremely boring, they are all very well written, if perhaps rather similar. Of these five I prefer the early ones, Family and Friends in particular.
