So true! (though i guess, arguably, they didn't realize that they had more to worry about than being human until somewhere around 5x05)
I really wish the show had focused more on Hal's struggle to stay clean/his reversion and left out the Devil stuff entirely. Do you really need the Devil to keep things interesting when Hal Yorke is having a meltdown? I think that would have given the show enough to work with, but the struggle still would have felt human at its root. I can see the desire on the part of the writers/creators to want to continually up the ante, but at the same time, I really could have done without the Devil plotline. Ah well!

I hated that they brought in the Devil. Also, the Men with Sticks and Rope, I wish they would have kept the mystery with both of those. Forgive me, but I also think they could have upped the ante without bringing the Devil down to Earth. I mean, yes, every season the the villains have gotten badder and better, but I think they could have topped the Old Ones with a less controversial figure. The villains (or even not so good characters) were always the scene-stealers to me - Cutler, Lia, Ivan, Lauren - and with the exception of Rook, Lady Mary, and the main three, I'm not sure I liked any of the other season five characters. /shrug/
