I always did enjoy that it was tradition to throw large, pointy objects up in the air, over our heads, to show how smart we are....Something about that seems counterintuitive...Perhaps that's just me.

yes it is pomp and circumstance "Land of Hope and Glory" is one part of it and thats the part they play at graduation.
