In light of all this negativity towards the season finale, I thought it was important that I share why I thought this episode, while not the best episode ever, was still legit. I'm not trying to convince anyone

It's a testament to how much they actually DO care for each other that they are content with just being in their platonic romance. They would rather forego the chance of a relationship in order to make sure that they remain together forever.
This is so very very true of BB and one of the reasons I have loved them for so long. They make me believe that this is enough....even though I want them to have more they do, almost, think it is enough to be "partners" and you gotta love them for that.

However recently, this has been going through some shifting. I think Booth has decided that the only way he can be happy is if he is with her. 'Its worth the risk.'

Brennan is a bit different. ........Brennan understands love better than anyone because she knows what it's like to to live without it. She understands the risks, the joy, the need. Booth understands all this, but he's willing to reach for it. Brennan is not, it hurts too much. This is something I have never really pin pointed before but you are so totally correct. Brennan is all, '

I'm glad you agree with me on so many levels. I do believe that part of it was Booth, but 75% of it was brennan I think...I dunno...I agree with Hart that it was the 'meeting of two minds', whatever the hell that means.

Right on!! You have said everything that I feel about this episode. I personally really liked it and it made me love Brennan so much more than I did before. It shows the audience that she is on her way to accepting how much she needs Booth in her life, on a personal level rather than strictly a professional one. She loves him, and she feels guilty and confused because of that love. I think that in season 4 it was apparent that Booth was firm in his love for Brennan - he was just waiting for her to catch up. His "amnesia" now gives her that time. Your essay was well done and well said. You rock.

Hence, this is the story of Booth and Brennan, in all of it's 'what could be's'.

Well put, but I'm more interested in what IS that what could be.

For me, Brennan WRITING DOWN her feelings for Booth signifies something for me. When Brennan is productive, it means she is using her brain. That's what Brennan does in her job, she's uses her brain to examine, progress, create.Since I'm the LJ friend that asked for the explanation, LOL, I have to comment on this particularly. Why assume that Brennan was writing down her feelings for Booth? I didn't get that vibe at all. I saw her writing, but to me this was no different than any other time she's been working on a book, with the exception that we were made privy to what she was typing. It didn't seem to me that she thought about it any differently than any other time she's worked on a novel. To me

Sam, I loved reading your thoughts. As always you speak from your heart and your love for the show always shines through in your posts. Make no mistake, I still love this show and I'm fairly certain I'll watch come September, but when the DVDs for Season 4 come out, I will never ever again watch this finale. Never. :)

I like that you aren't trying to change my mind any more than I'm trying to change yours. Everyone sees different stuff when they watch TV. That's why you have Buffy/Angel fans and Buffy/Spike fans..etc etc. We all love and see what we choose to see. :)
