well, it might be the temperature that the water is, or the type of food. fish can be kind of finnicky. also, the place you're getting them from might be selling you old fish, so that they are at the end of their life when you got them. just make sure that everything abut the tank and they enviromnent they're in is right. you can check online and stuff. just go to google and search the type of fish you have. hope it helps. and, if they die, you can always get new ones

just make sure that your parents find it dead first, and then go out and buy you a new one before you notice it died. that's what my mom did for me.

he just was blue one day, and then blue and slightly reddish the next day.

my mommy says it's because i feed him red food, so he changed colors.

Check the pH of your tank, thats how mine died.
