Oh man, thanks for the info. I saw that link on Facebook yesterday and thought "Huh, an intriguing prospect!" I'm very glad to hear the other side of it. Stupid myopic news sites...

The thing is, it really does sound like a solid plan. I found myself thinking that it wouldn't be a bad idea. But the statement that the Army Corps was just following habit really hit a nerve with me. After seeing those people work and the grief they take from all sides, I will almost never abide by an argument that begins by saying that the Corps doesn't know what they are doing.

Did you get a chance to read the entirety of the REALLY LONG New Yorker article. Some really really good things are said in that article.
