Yesterday, Katie and I were planning on spending the afternoon playing around on the guitar in attempt to actually be able to play something.

Alright, so it wasn't really an adventure. There were no bears, fangirls or hitchhikers. I suppose you could say we went to create mischief. Or we just wanted to do something fun for Lindsay's birthday. You know, whatever.

I really didn't know what to expect. We decided to walk to the closest mall and look for something. Yes, something. We really didn't know what we were looking for exactly. But we figured that we'd know if we found it. Which we did. Though, I guess when I put it as vaguely as "something", it's not hard to find it. But that is besides the point.

I think we started off in some store that resembled Claries. We went around giggling at all the tacky, pink stuff we could've gotten for her and all the little useless things that really serve no purpose (and really aren't pleasing to the eye, either). Lets just say we were sorely tempted to get the pink striped fedora for her.

After that we definitely didn't stop in Suzy Shier. And we definitely didn't try on some skirts. Not to mention, we definitely didn't bust a move in the changeroom area when Tainted Love came on. And by busting a move, I definitely don't mean twirling before doing some dance that resembles the lawnmower. Okay? Definitely not.

Besides, we had business to take care of. After wandering around various departments in Zellers, we came across the Barbie aisle. Oh, the nostalgia of giving those dolls the worst haircuts ever and dressing them in tacky clothes. Oh, and did you know that Barbie has a new boyfriend? His name is Blaine and he slightly resembles Zach from the OC. Actually, he's more like a hybrid of Zach and Luke. It's a little creepy, considering they have a California version (which is scented. yes, he smells like coconuts). Maybe we're way too easily amused, but we got him for her. He's just her type too; blonde hair, blue eyes, muscular, tanned, good-smelling and, on top of that, he doesn't talk back. Jackpot.

It wasn't enough, so we picked up some other little things like shapeable bath foam and chapstick (since she keeps complaining about how she never has any, so I put a little message on the back of it: "so your lips don't hurt real bad."). Lame, I know. But it was appropriate.

We weren't done there. Nope. We headed across the street to the dollar store to get a some hellium balloons and we found one of the world's corniest cards, which, of course, we got. We got a couple of weird looks walking back to her place with a big bunch of balloons and various bags. We stopped at a little park on the way to her house to put everything together, sign the card, and remove price stickers. These little girls kept eyeing the balloons, pointing and smiling. It was cute. It was tempting to give them one.

When we gave it all to her, she loved it. I think it was the first time I had seen her happy all day. She's been sick and she was just pretty depressed, so to see her smile for once, was nice.

...and her birthday surprises aren't even over yet.
