Con Report
I've come back today from my first Katsucon. Here's the report! (avec photos)
After class on Thursday I went home and packed up and Lauren, Christina, Shane, and Jordan came and picked me up in the mom van. We traveled down to Tan-A to get provisions and stopped at Krispy Kream because the Hot sign was on. Then it was onward up to National Harbor, Maryland which was thankfully not that far from DC. National Harbor is like a resort area right next to a body of water. There's shops and huge hotels and that's about it. On the way through DC we ended up getting turned around a bit and ran through some "moon craters" on the interstate. Huge potholes in the road- we though we were going to lose a tire.
We checked into the Residence Inn which is, literally, right across the street from the hotel and convention center and we paid $100 less per night than the people staying in the other hotel. Plus we had a kitchen. :) After settling in Lauren, Christina, and I went over to scope out the center (The hotel is called the Gaylord). It was so nice inside!
This is just part of the inside. Balconies everywhere, a gazibo, a garden with fountain and river, a bar and lots of restaurants and shops.
We ended up going to the bar and got some "classy" drinks. Expensive!! Then it was back to the hotel.
The next day (Friday) Lauren and Christina did their pokemon cosplay. We walked around some more. I took photos of them in the garden area.
So they did that for a little while. We went around to the dealer's room and artist alley. Then we went back to our room and changed into our lolita outfits. Sadly, I don't have a lot of pictures for this. Actually I only have two and they're both blurry. Well, we changed and piled into the van and drove to back-ass Oxenhill, Maryland to get some groceries. This place was the worst. There was snow everywhere and the traffic was so bad. At least the people were kinda nice. We went to the grocery store and some ladies commented on out attire. "So cute!" and "I want to do that!" Then we went to ze liquor store. I was standing out of the way and this one lady asked this guy, "Is that her?" She turns to me and is like, "He thinks you have nice legs." And it was some creepy old guy she had asked. Ugh. I hate creepy old guys! Anyway. Back to the center where we walked around some more. Went back to the hotel and changed again. I put on some normal cloths while Lauren and Christina put on their sailor moon dresses. They were meeting some people to do a photoshoot. That's about when my camera battery decided to die. Friday night we turned in early.
Saturday at noon was the big Sailor Moon meet-up which was interesting. So many people!
What you don't see is to the right -> there was a mob of people trying to take pictures of all of this. It was pretty scary.
