It happened again. Two new people at work and i get the queation. Which counrty were you born in? This always agitates me. I got this qustion way too much when growing up and it always made me uncomfortable. Ah well. back to the grind.

Everyone knows you were born in horsyland! I'm just not sure weatehr it was a land of purity and love... or weather it was a dark land of nightmares and evil.

I used to get asked that all the time growing up because of my accent since it apparently sounds quasi-American. Now, not so much, but it does still happen.

It surprises me that as much as we put the idea forward that we are multi cultural in practice most assume a look and sound to who live here. oh well.

Tell them either the country stopped existing when Russia took over most of Eastern Europe, or you were born on an island in Pacific that was washed away during a typhoon. As a baby, you were left in a basket that drifted along the currents until it reached Australia where you were discovered, along with a pendant covered in glyphs that the wisest men in Australia could not decipher.
