Senator John Edwards released the following statement today in response to Senator Lindsey Graham's comments on Meet the Press yesterday, where Sen. Graham said: "Well, I hope we will hold the generals accountable for their work product. He sounds like a twit.

Of course, I didn't like him to begin with. He's too slick a lawyer for me. *Almost* convincing, but not quite. I think he's a real lightweight, almost as lightweight as Barack Obama.

(Yes, I have very strong feelings on the Democratic field. Hillary is the only hope of beating Rudy Giuliani)

I disagree on all counts here.

I like Edwards, he's done some fabulous work on poverty the last few years, and I think he's electable, which Hillary Clinton is most certainly not. She's alienated most of the true liberals....and the people who do not like her don't just not like her, they hate her with a *passion* I've rarely seen. She may play well in NY, and in New England (and that is even a stretch), but most of the rest of the country detests her. If the Democrats put her on the ticket, it's a guaranteed loser.

Edwards is very bright, very much a progressive. He's not as liberal as I'd like, but someone as liberal as I would like hasn't a prayer of getting elected nationwide.
