I find pandagon.net to be incredibly offensive, so...I don't visit.

I find it sad that they've received death threats. As for that dork from Texas? C'mere you scuzball, and try that "real man" crap with me. I'll show you exactly how a real woman ventilates your pathetic hide.

I think Edwards made a huge mistake in hiring those particular bloggers, because of the fact that they were going to become lighting rods. Death threats and death wishes for the children are so far out of bounds that I can't begin to understand the mindset of those who would do that.

It can be offensive, very much so, and I certainly don't always agree either with the sentiments or how they are expressed. But that, after all, is hardly the point.

I agree that it was perhaps an intemperate choice, or maybe a really brave one. Both bloggers have serious cred in the feminist and liberal blogosphere. After Edwards made his statement last week, one would have *hoped* it would have been the end of it...but apparently the right not to be offended far exceeds anyone else's right to free speech, or to hold a job, or live...as long as it's a Christian who is offended.

Be aware, Jen, that I don't mean you, or other reasonable Christians...the above rant was directed at the scumbags who have made these women's lives hell this week.

OH, I know. In fact, I'm actually putting a comment pandagon.net right now.

I'm so ashamed of my co-religionists right now I could die.

Yanno, most of those are threats that could be pursued via the law.

Not that either of those women will take that step, but when people are so brazen as to make statements like that, they should get into the type of legal difficulties making writen statements like that usually bring people to.

I don't know whether to be saddened, angered or frightened, but I am deeply, deeply disturbed by this.

I'll just settle for disgusted.

And don't let the good PR fool you, I hear plenty of private bitching on the subject of 'multiculturalism' and how Christmas is not what it used to be!!!!!! when I go to Canada. Maybe not this visceral, but the sentiment is there.

Bingo. That little point has been overlooked by a lot of people, especially on the left, unfortunately.

Rove, et al, are masters of The Straw Man tactic. And unfortunately, most of the damned public is too uneducated to see what they are doing.

Personally, I think Edwards is the best chance the Democratic Party has of taking the White House back. I The Dems run Hillary or Obama, and the Reps run McCain...well, thet don't have a chance in hell.

Yeah, candidate A or B may be more "Yay, what we Need"...but right now in this America...They Aren't Electable. Period. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

I don't think so either. And while Edwards is not as liberal as *I* would like, some of his pet issues are things which are close to my heart, like doing something about healthcare and poverty.
