canon character relationships

For my own reference! This does not make sense, I swear.

KIYOTAKA NARUMI Ayumu is SO, SO angry with his older brother but looks up to him at the same time. He is angry at him because he is the reason why everything in the world is in a mess and he has to take care of everything. He is also angry at him because he left Madoka alone. He's jealous of Kiyotaka because he can do everything much, much better than he can. He never gets any praise because of Kiyotaka and that's something that he hates so much, and feels useless for. Despite all that though, Kiyotaka is good at everything and Ayumu looks up to him because of that.

MADOKA NARUMI Madoka has forever been Ayumu's love. It was never mentioned in canon when Ayumu knew of Madoka, but it is stated that she is Ayumu's first and ever love. He was happy when she was happy, and when Kiyotaka magically disappeared, he took it upon himself to move in with her so she wouldn't be alone. He usually wakes up at night and hears Madoka crying because she misses Kiyotaka, which makes him all the more angry at his older brother.
Ayumu confesses to Madoka after the incident with Kanone in school, and it ends up really, really awkward after that. Before Ayumu confessed his feelings, though, he has always been tsun tsun dere dere towards her.

HIYONO YUIZAKI Hiyono is one of the students Ayumu meets and gets to know at the beginning of the series. She interviews and pesters him because he was accused of murdering one of the students in school (coincidentally part of the Blade Children). Later on, she tails Ayumu forever and ever for exciting mysteries and scoops. He didn't exactly trust her because she wasn't part of the whole Blade Children scene, but he later accepted her as someone he can count on and help him find the solution to the problem after the Kanone incident in school as she sacrificed her arm for him.
Ayumu appears very aloof and cold towards her because he finds her annoying. He doesn't exactly show direct concern towards her, but he does care deeply for her.
Ironically, she is the type of girl Ayumu likes.

EYES RUTHERFORD The first of the Blade Children that Ayumu formally meets. Eyes broadcasts on TV that he needs someone, anyone to bring Narumi Kiyotaka's younger brother to him. When they meet, Eyes forces Ayumu to play the piano, but he declines. Eyes tells Ayumu that he will be a loser forever and will just continue to walk in Kiyotaka's footsteps. Then he gives him a challenge, which Ayumu solves just in the nick of time. After that, there comes many attempts of killing Ayumu from him (c/o the other Blade Children).
Among the Blade Children who tried to kill him, he's the most passive. Ayumu and Eyes don't exactly have a close relationship and only interact for business.

KOUSUKE ASAZUKI Asazuki is the second of the Blade Children that challenges Ayumu. During Asazuki's challenge with Ayumu, it is revealed that Ayumu is weak to certain kinds of sting and will die really quick after he gets stung. Asazuki's challenge for Ayumu was to guess which card he picked among the deck he had, and Ayumu successfully won the challenge but later told Hiyono that he cheated.
There really isn't much interaction between the two of them.

RIO TAKEUCHI Rio is one of the Blade Children, and gave Ayumu so many near death experiences with her challenges for him. She appears as a loli who is saved by Ayumu from a stupid science teacher, but later on assassinates a teacher who wants to inform Ayumu more of the Blade Children. It is because of her that Ayumu realizes how much of a coward he is for running away from his problems and from the problems he causes to himself for looking down on himself too much.
He tells Rio that he does not believe in God, and does not believe in miracles as much as she does, but will bank whatever he has on God and a miracle if he promises something that he will do.

KANONE HILBERT Kanone never posed as a threat to Ayumu before, specifically when he went to the newspaper club's room and pointed a gun at Ayumu. Kanone has always said that he will not hurt anyone who isn't part of the extermination, but Ayumu needed to be part of it so things went chaotic between the two of them.
Ayumu holds a lot of respect to Kanone for being able to keep his words, but is disgusted by the fact that he wants to kill the Blade Children for the sake of the world being saved. After the whole incident in school though, Ayumu forgot about the things Kanone told him as well as their violent experiences together. But then, Kanone dies and Ayumu just gets really, really angry and disturbed by it.
Not a lot of character development between them, yeah.

RYOKO TAKAMICHI Ryoko is the only one of the Blade Children who fought alongside Ayumu who introduced herself as a friend. The two of them met in school when Asazuki had transferred to Ayumu's school for work. When Asazuki was being a bully to Hiyono and Ayumu, she comes in more or less saves Ayumu the trouble of being picked on by Asazuki.
Ayumu doesn't have much to say about Ryoko since there is hardly any interaction between them, but Ayumu trusts Ryoko as someone to help him out with his foreordained mission and all that.

HIZUMI MIZUSHIRO Hizumi is pretty much Ayumu's counterpart. He is the devil, and Ayumu is God. He is even called Ayumu's clone, and all that. He makes his appearance at the last arc of the manga, where everything is revealed to Ayumu. While the two of them are to kill each other in the future (as foreordained by Kiyotaka), the two of them get along well. Hizumi tries to be friends with Ayumu and does not threaten to kill him before he strikes, and vice versa. They even live together with annoyed Ayumu the first time, but they got along.
After Ayumu finds out that Hizumi kills Kanone, he gets absolutely enraged and meets Hizumi at the top of Tokyo Tower for the decisive duel. In the end, he doesn't kill him due to (insert spoiler here).
