[OOC] State of the Pups

It's pretty weird to look at my thread chart right now and see that it's the 24th and I still lack 5 threads to make reqs, because I feel that I've had an extremely productive month. Most of that has been focused on selective pups, though (Namely Shari and Tony), but I do feel that my thread length for everyone this month has been really good, so I'm satisfied. As of right now, I've stopped even considering who I might app after Freddie; pragmatically, I need to wait, regardless of how excited I might get for someone new. It has actually crossed my mind to not bother with those last 5 threads so that I don't have the option to reserve anyone else right away, but it would really bug me to not make reqs, and I think I've got enough plot coming up for the pups I already have that it won't be an issue. I really have no desire to focus on anybody but who I already play right now, which is good but strange.

Wow, okay. So, Shari started the year fairly quiet, but that could be expected when I was debuting Clark and Tony within the first few months of 2011. Circumstances being what they were, it was natural for her to be subdued, too; Peter Nichols disappeared, and there's only so much mourning she or I want to play out for her, but I had been a little concerned about her level of cynicsm and wondering what it would take to snap her out of this funk she's been in for nearly 2 years now. (2 years, guys. It's been 2 years since Luz disappeared. What.) I'd been working on pulling her out of her shell, but it has been pretty slow work. And then this month happened, and it was like the planets aligned.
First, there was Peter Parker's speech at the end of last month. It really struck something in Shari, because she could so completely relate to the emotion that was driving it and part of her has been so angry at the island for so long, but there was this stronger, more fundamental part of her that felt so thoroughly that he was wrong. So, she's been wrestling with that and having a mini-existential crisis over it most of the month. She's also been connecting with people a bit more this month, albeit by halves, and it's thrown some light on how lonely she's been. Then, she had a heart-to-heart with Dean at Casino Night that did a lot to open her eyes to her situation and the way she's been processing things. That was unexpected but had a really big impact. And then, Mace. Oh Mace. Out of nowhere, had no idea what an impression he would make. This started as me saying I just wanted Shari to meet him so that she could marvel at how he looks like Steve, and then I told Melly I wanted Shari to have an umbrella (Which is a thing from the movie he's from), which evolved into her finding him in his debut, and I really couldn't have predicted what that would do for Shari. I'm not talking about the guy being hot (although he definitely is), but rather that there is something about finding this person who had a familiar and comforting face but who very decisively needed her in a tangible, life or death sort of way. It's reminded her of the gift of living, and I expect that when she finds out why he was in space, that it's going to remind her of how she felt when she first arrived on the island in a way that nothing else really has. I think she's finally going to want to embrace the idea of living every day to the fullest again, rather than just talking out of her ass about it. Then, next month during Rapture plot, I'm sending her below, where she and Neil will accidentally get lost and she's going to be injured. (I'm thinking a broken arm.) That should reenforce this epiphany, so I think we may finally be looking at a new era for poor, sad bastard Shari.
I'd like to do some kind of bakery gathering post soon, I think that could be fun. Also, while the 40s party still sounds good, I think she's going to just let Jack and Saffron do that and do an adult ladies night instead. She's really been feeling the girl power lately.

Sirius has had a very slow month, but that was entirely on purpose. Come August he's going to have plot coming out his ears, so I'm trying to just keep things chilly until then, although it does mean he's not been getting much gameplay. Cassie got her item, and that's a little concerning-Not because he knows what it is, or even what's going on, but because he can tell that something isn't quite right, and she was so very upset over Marshall's allergic reaction. I don't have any plans to EP him before his item plot starts, but I would very much like to get in some good, solid threads with the important people in his life before then, so I'll probably be hitting some of you up for private threads in the next couple of months.

Peter Parker is a butthead. That is the primary lesson I've taken from Pepper's gameplay this month. We kind of already knew this, but the beginning of the month was particularly tough, as we were playing out Pepper and Tony asking Peter to move in with them, and he can get really mean when he's emotional. He made Pepper cry and she had to leave because he is a brat, but she loves him anyway. She had a nice, fun little thread with Tony at Casino Night, wherein there was sexual innuendo and I as a mun felt entirely strange (still not used to that from them), but she's been relatively quiet and I bumped her EP because I couldn't see a reason for her to have one. Next month should pick up for her, as she will begin fretting over her superheroes when they go down to battle bad guys in Rapture plot. In August, she's apparently going to be a teenager along with Tony and Peter, which should be fun. There have been requests for a dance so that all the awkward teens in that plot can be even more awkward together, so we'll see what I can throw together.

I honestly don't know what the hell is going on with Cal anymore. I mean, I do, but emotionally he's currently in a bit of a tailspin, doing some pretty stupid things like putting his lips on Sarah and, IDK, pining for the fjords and shit. Next month should see a big shift in his demeanor, though, as he's going to be in Rapture plot with Ishiah and will get to kill things, YAY. Getting to kill monsters is on par with him getting laid in terms of catharsis and the potential to adjust his overall attitude. I've scheduled his amnesia plot for October; Sarah suggested that he get injured while out hunting with Dean, and if that's still on the table, I'm totally down with that. I finally finished the new book in his series early this month, so I know exactly how I want the plot to go and what I hope to come out of it. It'll prove to be a really big change for him once his memory returns, and I'm looking forward to it.

The first part of this month was quiet for Lux, but when she tagged Jason's latest EP, pregnancy scare plot got underway with a vengeance, so she should be pretty busy at least through the middle of next month. I need to get a thread in with Baze for sure, maybe before the end of this month, and Kate and Bucky wouldn't go amiss, either. Jason's going to be really happy about the idea of possibly being a dad, apparently, but Lux is having a major crisis, as the reason she ended up in foster care was because her own mother got pregnant at 16, and she's always tried really hard to not perpetrate that cycle, yet here she is. Once she finds out she's not pregnant, there will be ALL THE FEELINGS, and she'll be pretty conflicted over it, as she'll probably have just started to come around to Jason's way of thinking. It should be interesting.

Clark is trucking along. This month has mostly seen him dealing with other people's issues, but that is okay with him. He likes being somebody to depend on. He indvertantly figured out that Danny and Steve are together, which really threw him, not because one of his closest friends is gay, but because Danny didn't tell him. So, he's been pretty upset and worried about that, wondering what he's done wrong that Danny felt he couldn't be trusted to know this. When he finally finds out about Lex and Anatoly, it's going to be especially difficult, as it will have been the second time this has happened, and he really tries so very hard to be trustworthy and compassionate. Danny won the date with him from Casino Night, though, and we're currently threading their man date, wherein all will be revealed~. Danny keeps asking about Lois, though, which is really not helpful whatsoever, because he loves her and definitely has no intention of forgetting her, but he misses her so, so much. Poor puppy.
I think I might put him in sex switch, as I already have a PB chosen, and I feel like Clark as a chick could be fun. It will be just in time for the GAE to finally be finished, too.

Good lord, y'all. I knew this was going to be a big month for Tony, but I had no idea it was going to be THIS big. Truth or Dare was monumental, truly. Dude has got so many people twisted up, it brings a tear of pride to my eye. First, there is Maxxie, who continues to be somewhat elusive but who he may have just secured FOREVER in their thread at Casino Night. Then there's Billy, who Tony completely fucked over during camping and yet somehow still came out of it as HIS BOYFRIEND, what. Then there's Grace, who was dressing like a boy when she found out Tony liked them, bless. Not to mention Camilla, who is still alluring, and Alexis, who is pissed at him and Billy but trying not to show it, and Marshall, who may be the target of Tony's ire for awhile simply because he's dared to like Maxxie. Basically, Tony Stonem is a life ruiner, and it's glorious.
I wrote up some supplemental information on Tony, psychopathy, and how I play him as such here, and it was helpful to get that information down in an organized fashion. Providing Di's app is approved, we should have an Effy next month, and that should change Tony's overall demeanor considerably; he's gotten a bit careless as he's been feeling more and more out of control. He'll be watching 2x01 in August, though, which will put him off his toes again, but that same month he'll also be in sex switch, looking like his Id and apparently having sex with Cook, which should make for some incredibly entertaining fallout.

I'm still getting settled into playing Jane. Her voice comes naturally to me enough, but I'm not quite to the place where I don't really have to think about it, although I will fully admit that this is mostly just anxiety on my part because Nix's Thor is SO pitch perfect, and I'm all like AUGH HOW CAN I MEASURE UP. But I will work past that, because I do love Jane a lot and when I just let myself have fun with her (like in the My Drunk Kitchen EP), it's all good.
This month was mostly about truth plot for Jane, which essentially means it was mostly about her making a fool out of herself in front of the dude she has the hots for. However, the follow up thread is proving quite promising from Jane's perspective, as he confirmed he's into her LIKE THAT and then Jane kind of…climbed him, as one does. Thor's still so old fashioned, though, so I'm looking forward to seeing how he deals with all of this. She also had a thread with Madelyne this month which I've been enjoying a lot, and I'm hoping they can be friends.
I'd like to be able to put Jane in Rapture plot, but have a feeling she would be barred from going down there. (Nix?) I definitely need to get her talking to Fred and Belle soon, too, so maybe we can do some private sciency threads next month.

Plans for Freddie remain pretty much the same as last month. I'm in the middle of (yet another) canon rewatch as I prepare to debut him, and right now I'm basically trying to get some of my other pups shored up so that I can focus my energy on Freddie, as I expect his debut to be somewhat emotionally draining. (To put it mildly, LOL.) I don't typically get bleed, but I do anticipate it here, so I'm trying to prepare accordingly. It should be very interesting and rewarding to play out, though, so I'm looking forward to it. The debut will be private (just Cook), but I'll give him a public EP once that's done, and I encourage all of you to tag him, as Freddie's just wonderful, and I promise you will love him.
