When Moonbin holds onto the robot’s leg and refuses to let go, Yunho realizes that he may have made a terrible mistake.

Especially when said robot is stock-still and stares at Moonbin in a nonchalant manner. Yunho considers running over and physically removing Moonbin from the electronic. He fears Moonbin will not survive a kick from the titanium body.

But said robot picks Moonbin up, and holds him up so that they are face to face. Yunho holds his breath.

“Hello, my name is JZ9310. What is yours, little master?”

“JZ9…”

Moonbin scrunches up his nose, and Yunho breathes, walking over to join the two.

“Moonbin, his name is Jaejoong-“

“Is that a command, sir?”

“Yes, it is, and call me Yunho, Jaejoong,” Yunho turns to the newest addition to their home, who has depthless eyes that still catches him by surprise though he had time to speak to Jaejoong and stare at Jaejoong. Seriously, the things they were doing with technology nowadays.

His son’s excited exclamation of “I am Moonbin!” clashes with the robot’s calm acceptance of the command (“Yes, Yunho.”).

When Changmin first shows up with the box, only ten years (and counting) of friendship keeps Yunho from socking Changmin in the face.

Yunho has known all along that his friend is a mad scientist, but this is overdoing it.

He doesn’t need a robot to help with his household - to help with Moonbin. The father and son duo is fine by him.

Having the man bring an electronic and declare that Yunho needs something like that in his life was an insult. Yunho tries - Yunho gives - his best to his son. They are doing fine the way they are!

Or at least Yunho believes.

His illusions ends one day, when work ends early and he decides to pick Moonbin from the bus stop as a surprise.

He thinks nothing of Moonbin’s lone form on the bench. But he hears the careless words strewn across from the other bench when he manages to creep behind Moonbin.

“Boys without mothers are bad influence, my mum said.”

“Moonbin doesn’t have a mum, does he?”

He glowers, almost rushing up to give those boys a piece of his mind, but then Moonbin returns a snide remark and Yunho feels like someone socked him in the gut, because Moonbin is only ever snide when he is hurt.

The bus comes and goes before he knows, and Yunho shakes himself, and drives back to meet Moonbin at home. They go out for ice cream after, fighting over toppings and flavours, and spending the afternoon doing the whole father-and-son thing, and Moonbin is happy - but Yunho’s thoughts linger.

---

The box, that is as tall as he was, was shoved in the closet, hidden behind where all his ironed suits hang.

He makes sure the door is locked again, before dragging the box out and settling it on the marble floor of his bedroom.

Yunho’s lips threaten to quirk into a half-smile as he thinks of the way Changmin will just gloat. Then a sigh, before he resigns to his fate (and decision) and dials for his stupid best friend since a millennium ago.

It takes only 4 rings for Changmin to pick up.

“Have you opened it yet?”

Yunho makes a strangled noise. “No.. Not yet.”

Changmin scoffs. “Why are we friends again? Open it, then call me back.”

Well. He should have expected that.

A moment later, Yunho finds himself staring at a really… beautiful… Was it called a specimen? Yunho can’t be sure. But Changmin knows his type well - and this… man, Yunho decides firmly, lying in a box on his bedroom floor is one of the most beautiful he has ever seen.

A little bit more bending over and staring until he feels like a fool peeping at someone sleeping and he decides it’s time to call Changmin back.

“Just your type, isn’t he?” And Yunho can just hear the smirk in Changmin’s voice over the telecom.

Yunho blushes a little but Changmin will only find out over his dead body. “Har. Har. Very funny, Changmin. Just tell me what to do with him.”

“I know how much of a techno idiot you are, so I programmed everything. And yes, before you ask, he’s going to be perfect taking care of Moonbin. All you have to do is make sure you press that button behind his ear.”

“This had better work, Changmin,” Yunho threatens, but both of them know Yunho forgives everything and Changmin thinks of everything.

“Oh, and Yunho?”

“Yeah?”

“Don’t give him some stupid name like Thunder that you think is cool but is not.”

---

Yunho thinks it will be hard teaching Jaejoong how to speak casually and how to interact with Moonbin and how to cook, because after all, isn’t he a robot, and aren’t robots stiff and robotic and… programmed?

But all his thoughts are dismissed as he watches Jaejoong chase a giggling Moonbin across the room. The robot catches Moonbin and ruffles his hair before catching Yunho’s stare and shooting a smile back.

It’s only been two weeks since the day he opened the package (and subsequently almost hyperventilated from fear when Jaejoong first tickled Moonbin), but Yunho thinks Jaejoong isn’t a mistake after all.

A/N: I was working on this all week, instead of drabbles! :)
