I am enjoying your series and approach concerning the "OS, AS" doctrine which is popular in many churches today. I agree, we can never "lose" our salvation, but an individual can leave the faith (considering Demas), and become so entrenched in unrepentant sin that they are no longer responsive to the conviction of the Holy Spirit; truly a dangerous place for someone to be in. I have found that most of the ministries that teach the "Once Saved, Always Saved" doctrine also seem to favor a "Cheap Grace" theology. Not so surprising, as once we begin to excuse sin there is no stopping the downward spiral!
I confess I have not visited your site in awhile, I have been missing out....
God bless and hold fast!

Thanks for the encouragement. I've been following your posts as well. You know, I always wondered why you never posted at jesusfreaks... but I guess it doesn't matter anymore. Can you believe that the mods at jesusfreaks will not allow this series in the community? That was the main reason I had to step down(if you didn't know already). I had the first post from this series up and was basically told by the maintainer to remove it immediately. I was also told that it was fear mongering and stating that the blood of Jesus is not enough for salvation!

It's like I touched on something that terrified them insomuch that they just lost their minds. We have been friends ever since I was asked to be a mod. And I've held to this belief for the five years that I was privileged to be a mod for jesusfreaks. Five years... then all of a sudden this happens over night. But if that is how they wish things to be, I'll not fight with them over it.

I has a very similar situation on MySpace, back when MySpace was a decent site and had a great blog platform. I had made a lot of friends who were Spirit-filled, and they supported me. Until I posted several blogs warning the church against the "signs and wonders" stuff which was sweeping through Pentecostal and Charismatic churches at the time. I essentially said that signs and wonders were great and Biblical but what I was seeing was the replacing of sound Biblical teaching with nothing BUT signs and wonders. I warned that this is how the devil draws people away from truth, by luring them away from the Word using methods which appeal to the sensuous, fleshly nature. I was attacked openly, and some were bad-mouthing me behind my back. I was down to 17 people who were reading my stuff. Then I read again about how Elijah was all despondent thinking he was the only voice of truth and God basically told him to shut up, quit crying, He had 7,000 more prophets out there. So I just committed it to the Lord and got over it ( ... )

"Anytime you warn the church against the "Once Saved, Always Saved" doctrines, or the "Cheap Grace" theologies, you will anger a lot of folks"Yeah I know. I've taken to avoiding the topic, and I usually only comment on it if specifically asked about my position. I've actually gotten into it over this subject with the elder of my church in the middle of our bible study ( ... )
