Well I'm glad orientation went well. I'm the same way, I hate being in groups of unfamiliar people. I'm glad that you found some nice people, they are around...just few and far between the not-nice (stuck-up) people. The first couple of days you will feel an outsider but you'll find friends up there. If you find not-nice people it is because they have a problem, not you, and think of it this way...they are missing out at getting to know the sweet, fun person you are.
Oh and congrats about getting a hot advisor...all the ones I seem to get are old and not-hot.
