Part 1,093 of The Ceri Jackson Lazy Arse Series

Jul 07, 2007 13:02

I spent so much money yesterday that I feel a bit queasy thinking about it, but what's to be done? The things (well, most of 'em) needed to be bought, and in some mitigation of the rapid descent into the depths of the overdraft, a number of them also count as Pleasing New Toys (many of which, happily, are pink. Or purple. Or both ( Read more... )

starlets, flappers, odd, shiny new toys

Hello! Good luck with NuPhone :)
Oh yes, my failed Welsh adventure is now happening in August, so maybe we can hook up soon!

With my NuPhone I can now:

- make and receive phonecalls
- send text messages
- take photos
- set photos to be taken in black and white, sepia, negative, with stupid yet irresistable comedy cartoon frames...
- send picture messages
- LISTEN TO THE RADIO!!! :D
- change between various crappy ringtones and message noises on the phone

So fairly reasonable progress after a week, I think. I need to figger out how to get a sensible sounding ringtone onto it next, though. I've currently got one that sounds kind of like how you'd expect a telephone in the reception of an incense stinky, crystal twinkly, windchimes tinkly, relaxation centre would sound. New age noises via synthesisers. And a text message noise that doesn't sound like a doorbell, as it can cause no end of confusion in someone else's living room when guests are expected.

Yay Welsh adventure!! :D

The Clue of the Broken Blossom! That's a major WOW, man. I thought you were revealing where you'd got the name from and I was nodding all understanding like, but then I read your words and not even! What a fantastic find. :D

Poor Helen Kane! :(

I dig your NuPhone, darls. I saw someone buying that one when I got mine and was slightly envious. ;)

It was a bit of an oddity in the circs! I briefly thought I was misreading it, because I'm so used to seeing letters spell out broken and blossom that when my seeing eyes catch glimpses of writing in shapes half way like those words, that's how they expect 'em to be completed. But no! I'd misread my reading, not the wurds themselves!

Yeah :-( I felt quite affronted on her behalf, reading all that the other day, even though I've never actually been all that gone on Betty Boop!

I'd still rather have your phone! Thanks for all the gen on that, by the way - I don't think I got as far as saying so in the relevant place. It does look super snazzy, much prettier than mine, and I'd always rather go with a personal recommendation when my indecisive old head's in a dither. Unfortunately when I looked, it seemed to be priced at around £270 here for use as an Orange Pay As You Go mobile, which was more than my purse could stretch to. Sigh.

Omg, I didn't realise it cost that much, but I should've guessed. Thanks to Todd being a normal work-a-day kind of person, his and mine are on a plan through "3" Mobile and I sort of don't think about what I'm paying for the phone and what I'm paying for the usage plan itself. I just pay the monthly bill when it comes in. :X

And anyway, your phone is ace!

I really resent buying mobiles too. Partly it's because of my hatred of mobiles in general and resenting that I even own one, but mainly I just hate spending money on it. They're silly money too. I've only ever bought off of e-bay, and even then only when absolutely necessary. I had my first ever phone that I actually liked recently, a blue fold up sangsung that matched my watch, but that's died (I was gutted), and due to my refusal to actually spend money on something that I didn't really need need I'm using a horrible horrible old phone that a friends sister gave me a couple of years back. I've been using it for at least 3 months now and I hate it. the buttons are too small, it's illogical and you have to go through 12million steps to send one text. Also it's not a fold up phone, which is annoying.

Oh, I feel yr mobile rage. I'm glad it's not just me who feels so bitter about the bloody things. I was given my first mobile under duress, as my present for Christmas 1999 (ie, my Mum giving herself the gift of being able to keep tabs on me forever afterwards), and have had to buy all the replacements since, much to my disgust. Usually I end up waiting till practically the last dying bleep of the outgoing phone before buying a replacement, so that I've had no chance to check out any of the options before buying one almost at random, and end up with a new model I don't get on with at all. Grrrr.

I wish all mobiles were foldy up ones. I might not like them, but that still doesn't mean I want scratches all over the screen and crumbs and mank getting stuck down around the buttons because it's had to bump around unprotected in my handbag. Harrrrumph.

Anyway, how's you? Have you got a gecko now?
