YAAAAAY!!!!
So today was pretty fucking awesome, cause not one, but TWO awesome things that I have been working on were accomplished!
The first thing was getting me license! I had to wait a month for my drive test appointment so I was super stoked that I passed on the first try and didn't have to reschedule. I have been trying to get this damn thing for AGES, with tons of people telling me "oh I'll teach you to drive" and then never actually doing it. But thanks to my pestering and the combined efforts of about 6 people, I finally got enough practice :p And Katie is awesome and let me borrow buggy for the test =) I got 13 errors...so just barely made it, but my instructor was kinda picky. There was one retarded thing that happened that he basically said he wanted to fail me for, but there was no specific thing it fell under on the score sheet so he couldn't. Basically, we turned on to a main street and he immediately told me to turn right, so I got into the right turn lane. That put me right behind a big truck with its hazard light on so we were stuck there for hella days and I had to inch back into traffic. I just thought it was turning till I was right behind it... He said I should have seen that it wasn't turning, which I should have, but what I did was only inconvenient and not dangerous or illegal so no much he could do about it :p
My second accomplishment was discovered when I got home. So basically; I have that buddypoke app on myspace... I got it a while ago, and made an avatar, and used to use it kinda frequently. I stopped for a while, but one day I was clicking through the tabs looking at the new features and noticed the 3D paper buddies. I was immediately like "WTF is that!?!" and being the crafty sort of person I am, HAD to have them. I love making stuff, folding origami, doing anything intricate with my hands...it just looked like hours of entertainment in general and my brain immediately went wild with ideas about legions of tiny paper minions all over the place! But its 180 gold coins - you only get 1 a day for logging in so thats like 6 months of log in bonuses...unless you complete sponsr offers. So I have been working on completing stupid fucking sponsor offers in buddypoke for AGES so I could get that damn feature. Most of them are lame scams or require money or providing information that could potentially lead to them taking your money... but some of them are harmless surveys. You just have to complete them and then patiently click through saying no to about a million other offers to get to the 'final page.' The thing is though, that they almost NEVER credit your account with the coins you earn. So I had to email customer service each time with a screen shot to prove I did it. They respond fairly quickly and always gave me the points with no issues - I just had to make the effort. I was waiting on one last complaint to go through for an unaveragely long time and had kind of just decided I would probably get the last bit through log in bonuses (only needed like 15 more) but when I checked myspace after getting home from the DMV I had 194 coins! yay!
So I of course got the app and printed it right away and got to putting it together. The thing tells you to use really thick paper but I didn't have any so I figured I'd just do a test run on normal paper. I used double-sided tape instead of glue since I thought glue might bleed through the thin paper...
Let me just say that these things are a PAIN IN THE ASS. I knew it would take a while, but I was guessing an hour or so. I don't really know how long it took me cause I met with someone between starting and finishing...but it was a WHILE. I atleast recommend following the instructions about the paper, cause my buddy is kinda flimsy and considering the amount of time I put into it, I wish it was better quality. You can choose from 3 different positions and a whole bunch of expressions. I chose sitting down, with hearts in my eyes - made for my boyfriend patrick so I can vicariously sit on his desk or wherever and creepily stare at him through my minion! =)
They are bigger then I thought they'd be - this is mine sitting on my pad of sticky notes for reference. I couldn't find any completed pics of these damn things online so I wanted to make sure I posted them.
But yea, so those 2 things basically consumed my whole day! tomorrow I need to get to work on stuff for the next Zoopy show. And then I get to see Patrick who is fulfilling my childhood desire of going to Great America on Friday! woot!! (my dad always promised to take me but I've still never been)
