Oil companies run their inventories on a weekly basis, and since the "gas out" scheme doesn't call on people to buy less gasoline but simply to shift their date of purchase by one day, oil company stockpiles won't ( Read more... )

Yeah it's pissing me off. It's written all over the white boards at school. It's stupid and if anything it is only going to show how much people rely on the oil companies because if they don't buy gas one day, they are going to buy it the day before or the day after. Prices are still going to go up!

Yeah, if people really want to make a difference we'd ALL have to not use ANY gas for, like, a month. But that's fucking impossible.

Carpooling and public transportation would do the trick. It's actually easy to do. Instead of not buying gas for a day, reduce the gas you buy. If you can walk somewhere, walk. Americans need the exercise anyway. If you are meeting someone or going to the same place as someone, get a ride or give a ride. Don't drive as many cars! This could also help out with traffic problems and polution. People whine and bitch about this problem all the time, but they don't do a damn effective thing to fix it because it is too much work. Well if it's too much work, then don't complain and DEAL with $3.00 a gallon.
