1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?moved out, got a "real" degree, got a "real" job, went to Maine, "snowboarded."
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? I resolved to stop texting & driving, which I mostly did. This year? No idea. I've running more recently, but I wouldn't say that's my resolution.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Three cousins in Mexico.
4. Did anyone close to you die? my cousin Roy :(
5. What countries did you visit? just Mexico.
6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011? uhm. a bug. like every other year. you know how that goes. the year I do thi survey and I actually have one? No idea what I'll say.
7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? May 7th. I graduated and other stuff. The day I interviewed for my job? April 1st cause of all the awesomeness that went down.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Graduating, graduating magna cum laude, getting my job, getting into grad school, getting a 4.0 my first semester in grad school, moving out, paying my own health insurance, being independent.
9. What was your biggest failure? I don't really feel I failed anything. There might be some things I could have done differently, but I wouldn't say I've failed. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with myself.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Nope. But Shadow did!
11. What was the best thing you bought? Well... I finally framed that map. I have started a nice collection of essie nail polish. Uhm. Place tickets?
12. Who's behavior merited celebration? Lauren (as usual haha), her parents and Alex. And Shadow, who has finally mellowed out... even though I don't really like it.
13. Who's behavior made you appalled and depressed? Yeah. Let's not.
14. Where did most of your money go? My classroom! I should really total that sometime but I'm a little scared. And of course regular bills. And Shadow's numerous vet visits this year. Klutz.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Uhm. Being a teacher. Going to NY as usual- more so in July than November. Going to Maine. Playing in random freak snowstorm in Maine.
16. What song will always remind you of 2011?I'm thinking "Edge of Glory." Pretty sure. The basically sums up my summer. And usually summer sums up my life. You know. and "Long Live," but that's more of a life in general than just this year.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder? happier.
II. thinner or fatter? the same. although I think this should be editted to say "healthier or unhealthier." just saying.
III. richer or poorer? richer. Thank God for a real job or I'd be screwed.
18.What do you wish you'd done more of? Travelling. Aside from a near-week in Maine, all of my trips were weekends (a weekend in Mexico, two weekends in NY, a weekend in Destin). And I wish I did more fun/relaxing travelling, less depression (in Mexico's case) and agenda-ing.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? Worrying over the summer. Everything turned out wonderful but those were some stressful months.
20. How did you spend Christmas? With Alex. Did Christmas with the roommates Christmas Eve morning, stayed the night at Alex's, opened our presents, saw his family, and then spent the whole day vegging out on the couch. It was awesome.
22. Did you fall in love in 2011? I know I should say something cheesey like "every day," but that's cheesey. So no.
23. How many one-night stands? Nada/zero/zip/zilch.
24. What was your favorite TV program? Teen Mom.... and Teen Mom 2.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hate is such a strong word.
26. What was the best book you read? A Dog's Purpose was good. I read some books over the summer that were good, but you know I don't remember the names now. One was about a guy who's wife died and tried getting his dog to tell him what happened... Dogs of Babel (yes I googled it)... and one of those kid books, the American Girls journals, about WWII.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? I wouldn't say a great musical discovery but I am constantly rediscovering how much I like Katy Perry, Rascal Flatts and Pitbull... although I tend to forget and rediscover it all over again a few months later.
28. What did you want and get? This awesome house. Lots of stuff from aerie.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Reading off the wikipedia list of 2011 movies... movies I actually saw and liked... "no strings attached," "just go with it," RANGO!!!, Rio!, Something Borrowed (mostly because I liked the book and it took place in EH), Bridesmaids of course, POTC, Midnight in Paris (surprisingly adorable), Crazy Stupid Love was hilarious, as was 30 Minutes or Less, Tower Heist, and the Muppets... and yes that just a list of movies I saw. As I am remembering movies I still want to see.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? Turned 22. Went out to dinner with friends, went downtown and then went to Maine for a few days.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? More travel. Landing a kindergarten position.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011? Business/casual thanks to work.
34. What kept you sane? Shadow. Sleep. Friends.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Eh. No one really.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? I was pretty amped about Osama dying, as immoral as that is to say.
37. Who did you miss? Let's just say my answer will always be the same every year for this.
38. Who was the best new person you met?my new work family, Erica & Ryan.
