Xavier knew this mansion just as well as Charles did. Their lives may have branched in separate directions, but they had shared the same childhood. They had both hidden in the unoccupied rooms when they wanted to avoid certain inhabitants or guests, snuck barefoot down the stairs to the library or the kitchen on chilly nights with a blanket in tow ( Read more... )

Charles had been on a hunt for his future self since the other man had slipped his grasp in the early morning hours. Damn him! There was so much Charles wanted, needed to know, things that he had seen in the chaotic mess of Xavier's mind, being didn't dare to turn over for fear of losing one so close to himself ( ... )

Charles' rapping drew Xavier from his introspection. He had been sitting in the empty room for hours now, and his muscles were stiff from the stillness. It took very little effort at all to know it was Charles on the other side of the door. That he found him at all was evidence to that.

"Come in." Standing up and stretching his back to work loose some of the kinks in his back. He did not exactly wish to face Charles, either, but he was a more welcome presence. Xavier felt... at ease around him. Maybe that was normal. He had always been pretty comfortable with himself

Charles peeked in, throwing Xavier a stupid little grin because why not? The alcohol has made him a bit more uncomplicated and for once in his life, Charles was really, I mean really trying not to pry into his twin's mind. Sidestepping into the room, he let the door click shut behind him before his eyebrows shot up his forehead in question and he raised the bottle of whiskey as some sort of peace offering.

"I've failed to bring glasses, but I figured you wouldn't mind." There's that silly grin again as Charles sashayed to a chair and flopped onto it, his grace apparently swiftly going out the window when gravity becomes too involved.

The sight of the whiskey earns a sigh of relief from Xavier and a fleeting smile.

"Gods, yes." His defensive posture dropped as Charles approached without the questioning mental touch. It was easy to see Charles had already been at the whiskey, but Xavier didn't mind, moving over towards the chair to join him.

"I thought you would be playing chess with Erik by now."
