Freaky. It's not scientific that I know, but these are sometimes associated with larger earthquakes... like an omen. Let's keep an eye out for the next few days! Can I ask where you are these days?

Whoops, I can't believe I let this slip by. I'm in sunny Tucson, Arizona. No earthquakes, I'm afraid - but there was some rather heavy rainfall the next couple of days. Ah well :)

Well, since the time we had this discussion, someone else I came in contact with was also marvelling over having seen one of these rings, so they do happen from time to time, and they baffle, fascinate and mystify those of us who see them :)

It was amazingly cool to see!

Love the two photos. The first one is nice with the plane and the palm tree.
The lamppost one is just beautiful. Good job. Mother nature tries to make up for the heat in Tucson:)
