Two things have greatly surprised me today.

(a) That one of the first members of Carcass was an individual known simply as 'Sanjiv'.

(b) That after years, I can actually get past Track #1 of a new Metallica album. I shall say no more, since it's entirely possible I'm giving them far too much credit merely for exceeding my embarrassingly low ( Read more... )

1. I hope he got himself a pseudonym because Sanjeeeeeeevvv from Carcass just wont cut it with the aunty folk. I can imagine a little Russell Peters joke brewing here.

2. I haven't bought a Metallica album in ages. I am seriously considering this one. THey really need to give out more samples.

The f'ed up part is I have most of their previous albums on tape, except I've left them back in India thinking I would never have something to play them on. And then I go and buy a freaking old car with a damn cassette player. In the words of Dr. Elliot Reed "frick!! double frick!!!"

BTW, the zip code is 61801.5 (It's getting there).

Man, the good ol' tape days. Good times, good times.

By the way, let me also take this opportunity to offer my deepest sympathies at the neverending holiday that the holder of that zip code has foisted on your head. Hang in there, I'm rooting for you.

Yes - it's not bad. But then again, 'it's not bad' is hardly an endorsement. The day they start putting out Testament-quality albums, that'll be when I happily recommend them.

By the way, I watched 'Some Kind of Monster' on VH1 a couple of weeks ago. Man, talk about dysfunctional. I actually ended up getting depressed halfway through the damn thing.

Yup...i did hear the album over the weekend. While its definitely better than the shit that they have been dishing in the last few albums it still is nowhere near "and justice.." like most reviewers have been saying. But one thing that warmed the cockles of my heart was that i could actually *hear* Kirk Hammett again. Maybe finally Mustaine will stop saying that Hammett got famous playing his tunes all along.
Lets see...will give it a few more spins an then make up my mind on it.
