There might be a light you can turn on once the lights are off. Have you ever seen The Tenant? Like in that.

HA HA - I haven't seen that but now I want to :)

Outside his apartment there was a big staircase and all the lights were off, but there was one that he could turn on that was on a timer. It only stayed on for 30 seconds or so.

This place has something similar to that. At first I thought it was on a motion sensor but I waived at it for several minutes a couple nights ago and nothing happened. :)
