Your issue with your driver's license reminds me of what happened to me when I tried to get Texas driver's license, since my NM license was set to expire the Saturday after thanksgiving.

I go down to the DMV on Friday, the day after thanksgiving. They are closed. I was not amused. So I show up on Monday. They treated me like I never had a DL EVER. Now I really not amused. So I asked them what do I need to do to get a TX DL. Their reply? Get your birth certificate and take both the written and the driving test. My birth certificate, I discovered, would have to be requested from the Air Force Base where I was born. Which is Alaska. Yay.

Long story short, (too late!) I got it all straighten out and received it a few weeks later.

This is actually the EXACT SAME THING that happened to me when I got my first TX license. Really, it was a mess.

The real amusing thing about the window is that it's the same window that I busted out on my old Ford. So, for a time, I couldn't roll UP said window. :D

And there are no window cranks; only the power buttons roll them up or down. Something I'll have to get used to, as my usual mode of operation is park, turn off car, roll up windows, lock doors. >_
