That was so fucked up that in my elementary school Goosebumps didn't count for reading pages. Because little kids would get scared reading them or some type of bullshit. WTF??? It's not like they couldn't stop reading them, that's for sure... But it really sucked for me because they were the only books I *could* read. They were the only ones that kept my attention and that I really really liked. And they were basically discouraging me from reading because they weren't worth anything to the school. But I think they helped my creativity. And inspired the type (well, not slashy, but um...ya know, thinking) type of story I liked. They were thinking stories. They did make you think. And they made you want to learn (at least what was gonna happen). But oh they were scary, and that’s bad ( ... )

My school loved the Goosebumps books, they were just happy that people were reading. I wasn't a big fan of them though. Also, I don't think it is fair to bold things you've seen the movie of or read a chapter. lol!

Keep in mind that the more books are banned the more people go and read them. :) I'm surprised LotR and The Great Gatsby aren't on there.

I've read:

5. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
6. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
7. Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling
13. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
16. Goosebumps (Series) by R.L. Stine
27. The Witches by Roald Dahl
31. Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane
41. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
51. A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein
52. Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
56. James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl
59. Ordinary People by Judith Guest
70. Lord of the Flies by William Golding
84. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain
89. Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene
96. How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell

society does suck! I don't know what kind of world they want..but the books I've read on that list with the exeception of like two were all great books!!

our school never had a problem with gooesbumps and I'm pretty sure my teachers in third and fourth grade read at least 2 or 3 of those Judy Blume's..I can't remember which ones.
