They kissed. I kissed Sheldon Cooper PhD, Penny thought with a mix of pride and guilt. Only problem was, he was Sheldon Cooper PhD. Not the kind of guy who kisses like that. She had left the ballroom without saying a word and went to her bedroom, hardly sleeping. If one kiss made her feel so complete, she couldn't imagine what would happen to her if they'd do more. She had never felt like that before, not even with Leonard. Leonard...
"Oh shit!" Penny shouted, standing up. She walked all the way through Sheldon's bedroom.
"Sheldon...Sheldon...Sheldon!"
"I'm right behind you"
Penny shrieked then faced him. She didn't want to know how she looked, but given the look on his face, she must seemed crazy.
"Sheldon, we kissed!"
"I remember Penny, given that I was one of us"
She rolled her eyes.
"What does it mean?" she asked desperately, feeling completely lost.
"Penny, you have to understand that this is new to me. You clearly took advantage of the situation"
"WHAT?". He did it. She was angry now. Like most of the time when she talked to him.
"You're saying that you didn't like it? Because as I recall, you stuck your tongue in my mouth!"
He seemed horrified.
"I'm sorry Penny, it wasn't something I planned. Aren't you currently dating Leonard?"
She scoffed. How could he state it like that?
"What do you want?" she said, trying to give her best death-glare.
"You" he replied siply. "The real you" he corrected, raising one eyebrow. "Not the one who plays an excuse of a girlfriend. The one who's talking right now is Penny. And no matter how stubborn she is, I like her better"
"I know you think me and Leonard is a bad idea..."
"It's beyond a bad idea" he actually air-quoted.
Penny sighed, giving up.
"We have to go home" she eventually said, avoiding his gaze and ignoring the urge she had to kiss him again, just to be sure she haven't dreamed it. He seemed to understant because he smiled at her, took her hand and dragged her back to the spare room.
"Thank you Sheldon"
"You're welcome Penny. But please hurry, we don't want to miss the train"
His face unlighted when he said 'train' and Penny had to admit that this expression made her frustation vanish.
"You're a paradox Dr Cooper" Penny said with a flirty voice. Was she flirting?
"Right back at you" he answered in the same tone.
The urge was too big. She stood on her tip-toes, took his face onto her hands and forced the way to his mouth. God, she thought, I'm addicted to these lips! She didn't close her eyes, wanting to keep contact with his. His expression was priceless but like the first time he ended up kissing her back. And like the first time, everything around them disappeared. How could she pretend nothing happened? And how was he feeling? Was he confused? Did he even like her? He was impossible to read. And kissing him wasn't helping. But it was he who pulled away, breathing faster than usual.
"Penny, please stop doing that"
He was begging her and she could tell he was thinking fast.
"Why?" She felt the tears coming into her eyes. Oh Penny, shape up!
"Because it's disturbing! Penny, while it is true that I strangely like it, I can't do that to Leonard.
"Oh"
He was right. Of course he was right. How could she do that? The return to Pasadena was going to be though.
They were in front of the door of 4A but they couldn't face Leonard now.
"It's a secret Sheldon"
He opened his mouth in protest but she cut him off.
"Yeah yeah I know. But please do that for me. We'll talk in the morning. But first..."
And once again her mouth was on his. Why is she doing this? It's unsanitary, it's...then his mind stops thinking because he's kissing her back. She pulled away too quickly with a sad look on her beautiful face and got back into her apartment. Sheldon stood still for a few seconds then got home too. He find Leonard on his laptop, clearly working on something important considering the face he was making.
"Hello Leonard"
Leonard stopped dead when he heard Sheldon. He looked at him suspiciously.
"Where's Penny?"
"She's uh..tired. She's in her apartment"
"So how was it?"
Leonard wanted to sound casual but it was evident, even for Sheldon, that he wanted to know every little details.
"Well the wedding was beautiful. My brother made a wonderful speech, declaiming his love for his woman but then I realized Penny was bored so I asked her to dance with me"
Leonard widened his eyes.
"She agreed" and then we kissed. "My mom was very nice to her. I think she enjoyed the journey"
"Wonderful. What about this morning?"
"Penny and I talked, she wanted to go home so I helped her packing" and then we kissed.
"I just wished her good night" and kissed her.
He wanted to scream it but he promised Penny. And he didn't want to hurt Penny. Leonard was staring at him and for a moment Sheldon thought he knew, that deep down he knew what happened. That maybe Wolowitz had slipped a camera in his bag or hers. No, that was insane. He would have figured it out. Leonard sat back in on the couch and sighed. Thank God.
"Sheldon..."
He turned around, scared of what he might say.
"Did she talk about...you know, me?"
Why would she?
"She may have mentioned your name"
"Huh. Cause I called her many times and she didn't answer. Not once"
"Her batteries were dead"
Why was he defending her? His life wouldn't be so complicated without her. She completely messed up.
"I don't think she's in love with me"
Here we go, Sheldon thought, the return of the winy Leonard. Of course she's not. How could she be?
"Don't ask me"
He hoped Leonard would give up but he just had an idea.
"I'll go talk to Penny. I will subtlety ask her how she feels about you"
"You would do that?"
"Of course"
Then he stormed out of the apartment and knocked at Penny's door. She opened it and smiled brightly.
"Oh thank God!"
And with that she was kissing him again, dragging him in her apartment. Probably not what Leonard would want but Sheldon couldn't care less. The world has stopped.
