Leonard came home an hour later. He didn’t seem happy.
‘Huh’ was all he said.
Sheldon thought for a moment, trying to figure what the ‘huh’ meant.
‘So you guys kissed’
He almost fall down. Penny told him? Leonard was waiting for an answer.
‘Could you be more specific?’
‘For God’s sake Sheldon! It’s a simple fact! She told me! You kissed!’
He had never seen him so mad. He was having a panic attack.
‘Calm down Leonard, this is probably not that bad’
‘Not that bad? Sheldon, you kissed my girlfriend!’
He had stressed the word ‘girlfriend’ and Sheldon couldn’t help but think how wrong it sounded.
‘From all the people I know, you’re the last one I would have think of a threat!’
That was really insulting. But he said nothing. Why did she tell him? It was supposed to be a secret.
‘Leonard, I assure you that it wasn’t something I planned. What exactly happened when I left Penny’s apartment?’

Sheldon had just left. And she felt a great emptiness in her heart. She just wanted to be with him, talk about what happened between them. He left but he kissed her softly on her lips, his blue eyes into hers. And then she looked at Leonard, who seemed lost and sad. She said ‘I love you’ to someone who wasn’t her boyfriend. And to be more specific, to someone she never thought saying ‘I love you’ to. And yet she did and it had felt so true, so sincere, from the bottom of her heart.
‘Leonard, we need to talk’

‘Us. It doesn’t work. You have to admit it. It didn’t work from the beginning but we continued anyway. And I’m not comfortable with that situation because I care about you and I don’t want to lose you’
At least that was true. But she knew him too well and he was not happy about it. He had waited for so long to be with her. That was the thing. After a while of thinking and sighing she heard someone yelling…Leonard. He was yelling at Sheldon. Oh poor Sheldon. She burst into their apartment to find Leonard walking back and forth and yelling some incomprehensive words at Sheldon, who seemed terrified and not able to say anything for his defense.
‘Sweetie…’ she said softly, caressing his arm. He widened his eyes and jumped out of surprise. Leonard turned around and shrieked.
‘Penny!’
‘Penny, now is not a good time’ Sheldon said calmly. Was he trying to protect her?

‘I’m sorry Leonard but you’ve been yelling for about ten minutes now and I was unable to say anything. I didn’t try to steal Penny from you. I always told you it was a bad idea to date her but you never listened’

‘Okay Leonard, I’m not going to stay here and being insulted. It’s up to Penny. If she doesn’t want to date you anymore, let her. And before you start to complain and whine, I’m not implying that I’d make a good mate for her. But I can’t pretend there’s nothing changed’

‘What the frack? Sheldon, do you know what’s going on?’
‘I believe so’ he replied with a grin, ‘Leonard finally understood what I’ve been trying to tell him for almost three years. And I think I’ll find myself with a all new experience. Am I correct?’
He turned to Penny, who was smiling widely at him. She let go off Leonard and came closer, step by step. Sheldon stood still, not daring to say anything. She wrapped her arms around his neck and looked deeply into his eyes.

‘Hulk and Peppermint Patty are officially a couple’ added Howard, glancing at Leonard, who was smiling too. He was ready. Ready to be happy with the perfect girl for him. Sheldon put his arms around Penny’s waist and kissed her. Yeah, she could definitely getting used to his idiosyncrasies, as long as his perfectly shaped mouth kissed hers. And once again, but this time without feeling any guilt, the world vanished, like a big bang and Penny smiled into him, ready for a crazy adventure with the guy she liked the moment she met him and who was now sure to love.
