The inappropriate wedding 3/?

"Who gets the extra dumpling?" Howard asked, glancing at the two guys.

Leonard and Raj exchanged anxious glares then nodded in agreement. Howard understood then put his right hand behind his back.

"Rock-paper-scissors-lizard-Spock!!" The three men shouted at the same time then groaned instantly as they all pulled out Spock. That's when Penny burst into tears.

"You guys, seriously" Bernadette summoned, patting Penny's shoulder.
"Oh, what's going on?" Leonard asked, scooting closer to her, a look of worry on his face.

Raj squeaked then whispered in Howard's ear.

"Dude, come on, you can talk in front of them now!" Howard said, exasperated. Raj nodded vigorously then took a deep breath.
"It reminds you of...him, am I right?" he said slowly, not directly at her.

Penny looked up, eyes puffy and nodded her head. And it's only been two days since his departure. He has called her, like he promised and she had fallen asleep with him, not wanting to hung up and somewhat forgetting to call her soon to be husband Marc. He hasn't heard from her in days but he didn't seem to be worried. He hasn't called either. She just assumed he was busy with the preparations but a voice in her head -the same voice who told her to not doing it- told her that if it had been Sheldon, he would have come all the way down there to make sure she was fine and alive. But she had reasoned herself. Sheldon was Sheldon, not the Doctor. She scoffed. She had became a fan of Dr Who thanks to Sheldon, especially of David Tennant and she loved the relationship between him and Rose. She snapped back to reality, where she was certain that four pairs of anxious eyes were on her.

"I'm fine" she lied, attempting to smile, "no really".

Leonard raised his eyebrows and cast a glance at Bernadette.

"Howard might help you" she told her, waving at Wolowitz. "He's so good for relationships advice".

Raj snorted but stopped by the death-glare Howard gave him.

"Listen to the lady Penny, I'm the leading man in the play"

That actually made her laugh. She turned to her left, waiting for Sheldon to roll his eyes or make a comment but she found an empty seat. Her smile vanished immediately. Leonard noticed and squeezed her hand. She gave him a sweet weak smile.

"I called him" he started, hesitant, "he asked me something...um, something I should ask you but I didn't quite understand..."

Penny's face lightened so Leonard decided to give it a go. He glanced at Raj, who gave him the thumbs up and he turned his attention back to Penny.

"He asked me if you received letters by your Lake House?"

Penny put her hands at her mouth, trembling with laughter and tears.

"What did you say?" she asked, a bright smile on her face. Leonard stiffened a little, relieved to see that smile again.
"I asked him what the hell he was talking about and he gave me the most odd answer ever"
"Which was?" interrupted Raj, now animated with exitement. Howard and Bernadette shushed him at the same time.
"Oh so now that I can talk to women you want me to shut up?"
"Sweetie, please" Penny said, pleading. He smiled and gave Leonard the sign to continue.
"He said: we were young, we were very much in love but-"
"Oh my God!!" Penny burst in laughter, "he used that phrase to make fun of me! That's from the Lake House" she explained, trying to look at everyone, "I made him watch that movie million years ago, no, a lightyear years ago...In a galaxy far far away!"

She was laughing so hard her stomach hurt. It felt so good. It's the moment when Marc decided to enter. He stopped dead when he saw Penny cheering.

"Honey!" he yelled at her to let her know he was here. Raj squeaked again.
"Hi Marc" Howard greeted, "I believe you remember my girlfriend, Bernadette?"
"Oh Howard, stop it" Bernadette giggled "he's so funny, isn't he?"

Marc didn't seem amuse.
"Hilarious"

Penny had stood, surprised.
"Marc, you're not supposed to be here! We had a pact and you can't break a pact, this is the rule!"
"The rule dude" Raj repeated, tilting his head.

Marc shot him a defiant glare and Raj suddenly found the ceiling fascinating.

"Not a call in four days. I desperately tried to call you two days ago but your phone was always occupied. Did you let it on all night? You know it's bad for your health?"
"Yes, Sheldon lectured me several times about it" she snapped, angry by his presence.
"Shel-where is he by the way? He's always behind you. I don't like it"
"Always behind me?" Penny repeated, bewildered, "as in...he might have a thing for me behind me?"

Marc looked perplex.
"Doesn't seem to upset you. Quite the opposite"

Leonard scoffed.
"Marc, Penny is really vulnerable right now, I don't think that's necessary to give her that attitude"
"If I need you little guy, I'll whistle"
"Hey!"

Leonard opened his mouth in shock. Penny put her hands on her hips.
"If you want to play it that way, you shouldn't have given you the trouble to take a plane and meet me here. And if you were so worried, why didn't you try to call the guys? They're always 'behind me' right? Sheldon is gone for your information. So no worries. And if you want me to forgive your attitude, give me some money"
"What? Why?"

Penny grabbed her jacket, cast a glance at the guys and Bernadette, and smiled.
"Because I'm going to Texas"

Marc stood still.
"Honey, you don't make any sense...I mean, I'm sorry. I was just worried! And sorry to you guys"
"No, I need to clear out my mind. So, do you give money or I count on myself as usual?"

Marc tried to think quickly. He finally gave in and gave her his credit card.
"You know the code" he informed her. "I hope you know what you do"
"I've heard that before. An yes, I do. Thank you"
"Penny, wait!" Leonard called out, running at her side, "you're serious?"
"You do know there are no actual saloons?" Raj asked, bummed out. Howard sighed.
"Penny, take this from a man who have the most amazing sex with the most amazing woman on the planet: I thought I was the Big Daddy but turned out I wasn't even an Uncle. Do you see my point?"

Penny pursed her lips, frowning.
"I really don't"
"That's because there is no point. I just wanted to drop that in everyday conversation. Have a safe trip"
"I have an advice you might use" Bernadette added, smiling at Howard before she turned to Penny, "always listen to what the heart wants. It worked quite well for you in the past"
"Honey, tell me I don't have to be worried" Marc said, looking into her eyes. His eyes were brown. She wanted blue.
"God, I hope not" she answered honestly, kissing his cheek. "I love you" she added, sincere. She meant the words, even though she needed to see it clearer. She couldn't get married before seeing Sheldon. She needed to know.
"Bye guys!"

She stormed out, grabbed her emergency bag (an other thing she could be thankful to Sheldon for) and marched over to her car, butterflies flying in her stomach.
"Texas, here I come!" she sing-sang to herself. With one last look in the mirror, she took the road to the airport.
