Enough is enough!

My classroom was made available to me Th afternoon. The 38 student desks and chairs that I will need are now in the room. Space for walking is limited. Literally, I have about 2' maneuvering space between the student desks and the walls. That's tight. Once I have my sixth graders in there, movement will be limited. A kindergarten teacher at a magnet school in our district recommended that we choose a charter school for Jeffrey, given the option, rather than staying within the regular public school options for the district because the state funding is so tenuous and our school board has been experiencing some difficulties. Ultimately, that is what we have done. This year Jeffrey will be attending the San Diego Cooperative Charter School. As part of the agreement for your child's attendance the family must provide 56 hours of work for the school which can range from driving kids to field trip locations to working in one of the school gardens to setting up and maintaining a classroom website, to stuffing envelopes for mailings, to being on the Parent/Staff Association Board, etc ( ... )

prop 13 is a fucking disaster. It's one of the worst things any state has ever done.

I assure you, private schools aren't necessarily better than public schools.

Sing it. I went to private school from grades 4 - 12 and to this day I am floored when teachers mention having AC in classrooms at all. I'm not even sure the offices had AC, much less the classrooms.
