Character: Jiang Wei (style name Boyue)
Series:
Dynasty Warriors 7Character Age: 19
Canon: Dynasty Warriors, based on the Chinese historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, retells the conflicts of the third century, only with more electric guitar music and arm-mounted cannons. As the power of the Han dynasty crumbles, three leaders rise up and vie for control of China. The ambitious Cao Cao leads the northern kingdom of Wei, while the Sun family rules over Wu. Liu Bei of Shu is the underdog of the conflict, but with the help of his strategist, the fiendishly clever Zhuge Liang, Shu proves itself a force to be reckoned with, and strives to make the dream of "a land of benevolence" into reality.
Jiang Wei, introduced as "the Prodigy of Tianshui," begins as an officer in Wei's army, but defects to Shu when Zhuge Liang notices his talents and decides to take him on as an apprentice. Jiang Wei is an eager student, and his formal, respectful behavior can't quite hide an almost puppylike enthusiasm to live up to Zhuge Liang's expectations, become still better at what he does, and fulfill Liu Bei's dream. Even after his mentor's death, Jiang Wei doggedly launches campaign after campaign against Wei and refuses to give up the dream -- because he swore he'd make it happen, no matter what.
Sample Post: I had known this province to be well supplied, but truly, the rumors did not lie! I can't remember the last time I saw such expansive farmlands. Small wonder that the Director is able to keep such a large army. This alliance may be the key to realizing my lord's dreams once and for all! If I need only help Madam Director solve a murder in order to seal this alliance, the northlands are as good as ours.
Still, I must wonder about some things. Such flat terrain must be difficult to defend, without natural barriers. This land would seem such a tempting target, with such resources ripe for the taking, yet it remains unmolested. The Director must be an amazing strategist! It must take a sharp mind to hold such open land so effortlessly, even with the benefit of such great numbers. I'd not presume that she would be willing to tell me about it, but I wonder if I could speak to one of her officers...ah, there's one now! Excuse me! General Marcy!
Do you have a moment, General? I'm very curious about the strategies your forces employ to defend your perimeter, and I was hoping to learn something of it from you, if -- I beg your pardon? "I'll show you mine if you show me yours?" I would be glad to discuss deployments with you, of course. The exchange of strategies and ideas is not only productive to us both, but a fine display of trust in our new alliance, both for our own benefit and to set an example for the troops! No, of course I don't expect that all our engagements will be safe, but as soldiers who are agreeing to place trust in one another I'm sure we both understand that -- wait, no what?!
O-on second thought, let's finish that discussion later, General. Instead, if I may, I'd like to take this opportunity to address the troops, and gauge their enthusiasm at the possibility of fighting for my lord's cause. They seem rather...listless, if I may be blunt, but I'm certain that for the right cause, their fighting spirit can be roused!
Ahem. Soldiers of Camp Fuck You Die! I am Jiang Wei, and I come representing the kingdom of Shu. I seek those among you who would fight to realize a great dream -- the foundation of a new order, built on benevolence and virtue, a land where all may live in peace! If you have the spirit of benevolence, I beg that you lend me your ears for a moment and --
-- ah, I'm sorry. Lend me your attention. Just your attention, please. You can keep those.
