The birds and I are now in Lubbock! The road trip was a lot of fun, all of which was documented by kaz409 on her Facebook - I'll pirate photos and post up some commentary as soon as they're e-mailed to me

Glads you made it back safely! How did NY compare with Texas? By this I'm more asking if you have a preference between the two? Hope you and the birds are doing good. :)
Hi there, Greylight! NY and Texas are SO different from one another, it's tough to compare the two. I find that I appreciate Texas a lot more this time around. Last year, everything was so foreign that it was difficult to really connect to and appreciate the state. I've seen a lot more of TX since then, and I am realizing that Lubbock does not equal TX (not that there's anything wrong with Lubbock, it just isn't my cup of tea). My roots run deep in the Northeast, so I would have to say I prefer the environment and land of NY over TX. However, there are parts of TX that I like more than NY when it comes to the culture, the people, etc. I don't think I'll ever feel at home in TX, at least not here in Lubbock, but I really do enjoy parts of this state. This year, I want to get to know it better!
Thanks a lot, Rana! After one day back at school to iron things out, I already feel 200% more settled and in control of the semester ^^ I'll e-mail you soon, I promise! I'm looking forward to catching up on your journals, as well!
