i watched heroes from episode one up until kristin bell's first scene in the episode from a few weeks ago. and then i deleted the rest of the episode, and canceled it off the dvr.

i guess i'm still too hurt by the vm cancellation to bother with substandard teevee. most substandard teevee.

Caveat: I ALWAYS get bored with TV shows during season 2. Happened with Friends, happened with BSG, etc ( ... )

Nathan's story is dull, because 'oh, he's a drunk guy who happens to be able to fly.' He's making NO effort to come to grips with his ability.

What I like best about Nathan is that he is in no way defined by his powers. (I just wish they spent a little more time on that, but it is an ensemble cast.)

I want Ando to get powers.

I don't even know you, man. That's the best part of Ando.

I loved Nathan in this week's episode.  He was totally being the "give me all the straight answers now" guy that this show (like Lost, and many other shows before these two) desperately needs.

I loved Nathan in this week's episode, as well. Nathan, of all the characters (except HRGM) is the one guy who not only seeks forward movement but is able to use some part of his brain to achieve it. He doesn't whine. He just tries to get shit done. I like him. In fact, if they replaced every single scene involving Peter with Nathan, instead, I would be giddy as a schoolgirl!

I read an interview with the producer who basically said that the lackluster second season people were complaining about was largely in their heads. He went on to clarify that we the audience had elevated the first season above where it actually was. To finish digging his grave he said he didn't understand because they were not deviating far from their formula.

Ding ding ding fucker. We watched this last year. Don't reset, continue with something new.

Man, talk about the slacker response. It's so dizzyingly wrong and awful. I mean, he's basically trying to say that he sucked more than we thought he did, so that he can now say that he doesn't quite suck as much as we think he does. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

I agree with all that stuff you said. Including the still watching part!

I am so 100% in agreement of the "oh my god, NYC is gone again" thing.  Lame lame lame lame lame.

As far as Peter Petrelli, I still like the character, but agree that there's no way to write him in a satisfying way at his current power level.  They've tried workarounds (the amnesia is a lame coverup, I liked last season's lack of control and awareness better), but in the end they need to significantly decrease his level of power or write him out of the series.

Speaking of writing people out of the series, not having Sylar stay dead in the season 1 finale was a total copout.

I also still like it enough to keep watching, but it's not really firing on all cylinders right now.

Sylar, like Mr. Bennet, turned out to be a lot cooler (and more popular) than planned, so I am not surprised both have stuck around. And frankly, I think Sylar's too cool a baddie not to keep around.

Plus, it's a comic book, cool bad guys are never really gone.

Linderman was a far cooler villain, as is Adam Monroe (to a lesser extent).  Frankly, I'm tired of Sylar -- it's not that he's intelligent, it's just that everyone around him is either too dense to notice that he's a predator or too monolingual and platonically pussywhipped to do anything about it.

At least they showed that Sylar got away in the finale. Peter and Nathan blew up in the finale, and now they're back, and the only ill effects are that Nathan sees Two-Face in the mirror on occasion and Peter forgot who he was. That seems like more of a copout to me.
