[PUBLIC] Crash Development

So I had a thought, and I'm reaching out to get ideas from my fellow development geeks. I was thinking about hosting a weeklong video game development session -- basically convene a group of my friends who are interested in design, development, writing, and art, and come together in a closed environment for a week, and pound out a new, never- ( Read more... )

Taking a vacation from developing to do… developing… does seem odd, but I suppose game development is a rather different beast than business software development. Might be interesting, but I don't think I have vacation time to spare. I would be interested in trying out the result, though.

This sounds tremendously appealing, actually.

I'm uncertain if, as a backend/database guy, I have a useful skillset. Also January is historically crunchy for me.

But I like the idea, weirdly.

If I had a weekend to spare (which is a rare thing for me), I'd love to get my pygame on and figure something out. Unfortunately, I'd be unlikely to have any time to spend on such a project outside of that weekend, but it'd still be a fun learning experience.

My skill set at the moment mostly includes curiosity and strong opinions, (and maybe if I don't get this job I'll put that on my resume), but it's really hard to say 'let's design a videogame!' and not pique my interest.
