Alhamdulillah, i love animals so much too. you can be into animal rights without being a vegetarian, and i'm so glad to hear that you only eat halal meat. good for you, honey- if i ate meat, i would only eat halal myself.

yeah, i am an Islamic feminist which i think is the root of true feminism anyway- to crusade for our rights as equals with men because Allah has created us all as equal regardless of gender.

i love this entry, sweet girl. it made me smile so much and we are a lot alike. i'm glad to have you in my journal :-)

I saw your posts in the freewaymuslims group. I wanted to ask - do you you have any idea what happened to the 2 or 3 Islamic feminist groups? I know this is random, I'm sorry, but it's 3 AM and I have the internet.

salaam sweetie- don't be sorry. i think the creator and sole moderator of "islamicfeminist" deleted both the community journal and her own journal long ago.

as for "islam_feminism" i am not sure because just yesterday i was reading posts from that community so i think it was just very recently deleted. i hope that the mod decides to undelete the journal because that is about all that's out there right now for Islamic feminism on lj :(

I had been a member of islamicfeminist a while back, but I rarely have a chance to keep up with livejournal. I am on vacation, so I've been using my time to check out the communities late, late at night, haha.

You could start up your own group, or we could start one together; although, I'm new to Islam (not to feminism!) so I wouldn't be too helpful!

hey!!! that is something to consider isn't it?!?! i would love to do that with you, sista! the only thing is, to be really honest, i am a very fluid thinking and progressive Muslimah... a lot of other Muslims sadly are not that way (at least most of the ones that i've encountered were not). this isn't to say that there aren't other more open minded Muslims out there (you sure seem to be cool too ;) ), but most of the ones that i have met were not too open or fluid in their Islam ( ... )
