Prince John PromptTitle: Will you Love Me?

Games. Always games. The incessant need to be loved. It was all Guy could do to keep the sneer from crossing his face in Prince John’s presence.
Or, if Guy was being brutally honest, it may have just been reaction to the humiliation he’d been put through by the man. But then again, he never was brutally honest, at least not with himself. Instead, he could tell himself it was purely to get into Prince John’s favour that he put up with the temper tantrums, the sudden mood swings, watching his sister fawning over him... when the reality was a willingness to submit to whatever the Prince’s whims for the sole purpose of advancing his own ambitions.
He’d never seen such a needy man. Guy knew that the Prince was probably the most privileged man in England, but nothing prepared you for the truth other than being in his presence. Abusing everyone around him, he was motivated purely by his own needs, not by outside influences. That, and a deep and abiding hatred for his brother.
If only he would get on with it and give Guy the keys to Nottingham Castle. He’d done whatever was asked of the pretender. Killed Vaisey. Put Robin and that treacherous sister of his where they would by now be dead. All that and more, at the feet of a madman who not only wanted the power - something Guy understood only too well - but who wanted England to love him as well. Something Guy would never understand; or maybe understood too well. Ambition like that and love don’t go hand in hand. You trample over too many people on the way. Either you accept who you are and what you’ve done, and have the ambition as your driving force, or do something about it to change it.
That’s why the people would never love Prince John.
